I know there have been a few threads on here recently, but it’s been 6 months since I demod and ordered the bike so I feel perfectly justified in starting another!
My Bird Aeris finally arrived on Tuesday and after ripping open the packaging and helitaping it, I immediately took it out for some photos and a dusty 25k.
I haven’t seen many pics of the orange frame about, so excuse the number!
Very sunny day made photography a challenge, but had a remote flash to help.

Really love it.
I’ll write some more detailed thoughts once I get some work done!
Saw that bike in What MTB yesterday and thought “mm, that’s nice”.
So many bikes have gone the link actuated single pivot, it works!
Looks great, cool colour too. Does it come in under 30lb?
SRAM X1 mechs have a limited range of arm positions in 10T that allow the mech to move without catching on the internal cable run of the mech itself – in order to make an X1 work you have to have it pretty much horizontal in the 10T or your shift from 12T > 10T will be compromised. Luckily the Type 2 mech has loads of spring tension so the chain is nice and tight even like this.
I’ll have to be quick for now. Camera: Canon 60D Lens: Tamron 17-50 f2.8 Processing: Lightroom CC Prop: Stick – cloned out in Photoshop CC Suspension: Horst 4-bar (but unlike any I’ve ridden previously definitely nothing like Specialized) Weight: Don’t know. Chain guide and tyres have added a bit from the theoretical 28.5lb. I’ll get it weighed some time.
Forgot to mention.
It’s a Medium frame.
I know the reverb hose is a little long. Going to trim it now I’m 100% sure of the saddle height. I’m also going to tuck the front brake hose behind the reverb once it’s done to keep it a bit neater.
5’10”
32″ inside leg.
Judging by suits, I have slightly shorter than average arms.
Don’t be too worried about the size. They are long, but the 35mm stem puts you back where you were. Feels exactly the same position to my old Medium Maverick with a 70mm stem.
So the medium is still a medium even though the 620mm ETT appears long.
I’ll probably be visiting a range of areas over the next 5 weeks before I take it to Whistler, so if anyone wants to try my Med for size, they are very welcome.
I’ll be riding Llandegla and most of the Peaks for sure.
I took it round Whinlatter last night and it did occur to me that some northerners might be interested in checking the size out.
Normal Man – do you tend to by the slightly small ones or the slightly large ones?
Great looking bike/nice clear pics.

Your cornering technique looks to be waaaaaaay off tho. Have you thought a out a skills course. Best money yo…… 😛
In fact I was recently looking at their frame prices but the Orange colour was out of stock & I wasn’t liking the gold shock link in the website photos but yours is black.
Going to have to wait until next year though.
Is there going to be a MK 2 ? Will they still do Orange frames next year ??

They’re all black now.

That long! wow.
I can see why Cy wanted to build the Rocket in the UK, this whole 6month Taiwan lead time thing is really awkward.
As soon as something gets popular, it’s out of stock for 3 months+.
I suffered with that with the Banshee Spitfire last year and I see the Knolly Endorphin 27.5 never turned up. If you want a Transition, Knolly, Evil, etc you really do have to get the timing right!
