So, following on from this thread, here is my new Chromag Surface, in the colourway that they christened “Pepto-Crush”:

    #AllTimeFallTime

    With small-sized 650b Wideangle

Bike park vanity shot and 2″ of #SickAir

I picked it up fully built from Chromag in Whistler the other week. They were an absolute pleasure to deal with – really sweet, thorough with the build, nothing was too much trouble. They even lent me some pedals to ride it away on. After 10 days of riding in Whistler and Squamish on it, I can confidently say that this bike works pretty well for me. And the colour scheme met with fairly general approval – although I’m sure you lot can find it in your hearts to be mean about it 😉

(I’m well aware that the protective tape on the forks needs to be transparent – but you can have pictures in the forests of British Columbia like this, or photos in a Hong Kong bedsit with non-horrid tape…)

Like a warning sign, probably keeps the bears and unwanted conversation away 😉
    (Glad the colours worked out!!)

    Thank you, I try. 😉

And thanks for your help with the colours Mike. It’s turned out absolutely spot-on.

Yeah, I like that, always had a soft spot for Chromags. Good to see you have matching shorts and goggles too 😀

I saw that on either Chromnag instagram or Facebook!

    Looks brilliant! I’m very jealous!

I think the only thing I would swap my Rootdown for is a Surface.

How have you got it built up?

Spot on that. One point – the cranks aren’t cutting it aesthetically for me, mute point tho!

Reminiscent of the colour fade on a child’s chewy sweet. Drumstick?

    It’s Chromag’s build kit –

    140mm Pike
    XO1 gearing
    Guide RSC brakes
Flow EX rims on Hope Pro-4 hubs
2.3″ Minions set up tubeless from new
Reverb (non-stealth, although it can take one)
Chromag bars, stem, grips and saddle
    Cane Creek headset

There didn’t seem to be any serious reason to deviate from their build, although it’s got a Lynx DT saddle rather than a Trailmaster (which my backside isn’t especially compatible with)

I’m not keen on coloured forks fullstop, so I’d have gone with black perhaps, but love the colour on the frame, bet it’s a blast to ride and think it’s only right the looks match 😀

Would Sir like a means of transporting it to Katie Price’s house?

Might I suggest this to be the most appropriate means?

Like that a lot and I’m not usually one for bright coloured bikes.
Are you going to do the rockshox decals on the fork? Would look good matching the orange crush colours or the black of the chromag decals

Riding kit does not match the bike colour design. 😉

Nice, fork color code is off the chain 9.5/10

I’m undecided. I don’t feel a strong need to have the fork tell everyone who made it, it just depends on whether something on the lowers to break them up a bit would be a good thing.

I think it would be a good thing, perhaps that’s what put me off initially. I want your bike now.

Looks amazing, so refreshing to see some colour after all the “murdered” out bikes of late. If I was being super picky I’d have started the fade a bit further forward, but that’s just me.

    Love it

Agree with Nickc re. starting the fade further forward but that’s a tiny niggle. It looks friggin’ awesome otherwise! Well done sir.
