Why TF they do those, I have no idea.
It’s so they can cover two award ‘seasons’ (so they can win 2 years on the bounce)
Posted 1 month agoIt’s quite full-on,
Yes, much more so than I was expecting. As you say very enthralling.
Posted 1 month agoFilm came up when I logged in, stars Colin Farrell, Ray winstone, Stephen Graham, Eddie Marsan, Keira Knightly, Anna friel, David Thewliss! The cream… why haven’t I heard of it? from 2010… it’s called London Boulevard and its UTTER CRAP! 😂 Why didn’t any of them read the script?!
In better news, new BCS is next Tuesday, I believe.
on Sky, theres Blocco 181, worth catching, could be the new Gomorrah..
Posted 1 month agoThree quarters of the way through ‘Keep Sweet Pray And Obey’ which is about an offshoot religion of the Mormons. Amazing and disturbing stuff where the women have to obey their husbands who they have no choice about marrying, and all from the ripe old age of forteen. It really is an eye opener about how these “disciples’ can be born into a religion and kept totally cut off from the outside world so they only believe what they’re told. There’s much more to it and it really has some WTF moments.
Posted 1 month agoI’m a couple of episodes in of The Terminal List. It’s not blowing me away. Does it improve? The new season of Only Murders started a couple of weeks back. That’s been good so far, although I haven’t seen the third episode yet.
Posted 1 month agoSlow / low burner, but Snowfall Series 5 now on iPlayer. Brilliant TV IMO.
Posted 1 month agoNot Netflix, but Blackbird on AppleTV is good.
Posted 1 month agoNew series of Breeeders starts tonight on Sky 🙂
Posted 1 month ago
Breeders evenNobody’s mentioned series 3 of The Umbrella Academy yet? Shocking.
Posted 1 month agoOn Hulu, but I just started watching The Old Man. It’s been alright, but I can see it getting pretty shit pretty quickly. I do enjoy watching Jeff Bridges, though.

came to post the same thing, completely jumps the shark in episode 5.
Posted 3 weeks agoI see the Sandman is coming to Netflix. I hope it’s not shit!
Posted 3 weeks agoBeen watching DARK. A German mystery series.
I say watching, but its difficult to follow and im only starting to get what the hell it is all about.
Posted 3 weeks agoNot sure if it’s been covered but Last Breath on Netflix is utterly terrifying and gripping in equal measure! A film documentary about a diving accident in the North Sea. Watched it a couple of nights ago on a recommendation from a couple of mates and don’t think I moved for the entire length of the film. Superb
Posted 3 weeks agoAgree completely about Last Breath.
Posted 3 weeks agoYep have to agree about The Last Breath, if I’m ever in a life or death situation that calls for a cool head and reasoning then I want David Yuasa next to me, I think I’ve watched it at least 4 times.
Posted 3 weeks agoMrsBeanZ is obsessed with ” This is Us ” on Prime.
Posted 3 weeks agoAgree completely about Last Breath.
+1. Saw the recommendation here and watched it last night, wow!
Posted 3 weeks agoSlow / low burner, but Snowfall Series 5 now on iPlayer
The episodes on BBC3 last night were certainly not slow burners! Really picking up the pace, great stuff 😀
Done about 3 or 4 episodes of “Pieces of Her” on Netflix, quite intriguing so far. Toni Colette is the lead, usually a sign of quality… still making my mind up.

Started strongly but I gave up at about ep4, went very formulaic and dull. Unfortunately.
Posted 3 weeks agoTrain-wreck – Woodstock 99 on Netflix; a documentary about the 3 day festival in 1999. A couple of out of touch shysters try to price gouge teenagers while treating them like animals at a cheap zoo, wonder why the audience is getting “a touch feisty” when the line up includes Korn, LimpBizkit, and Kid Rock, it’s 39degs in the shade and a bottle of water is $4…
Genuinely fascinating and horrific at the same time, the hallmark of a decent documentary.
Posted 2 weeks agoWoodstock 99
Totally agree. Saw it on Sky Docs channel, really good. Wasn’t it Alanis Morissette on the bill amongst that lot too? Crazy stuff.
Posted 2 weeks agoWatched “Rogue Agent” the other night. Quite entertaining. Based on a true story that is even more astounding than the film.
Not Netflix, but Irma Vep on Sky Atlantic is brilliant in a “10 Per Cent” kind of way, if you like watching Alicia Vikander and are interested in film making.

I watched the first episode and it just seemed too pretentious and artsy so I quit. Partly as a consequence of watching quite a lot of Station 11 before realizing it was nonsense and giving up. I’m sure that a lot of people really enjoyed both shows, but I just couldn’t be bothered.
Season 2 of Reservation Dogs kicks off this week. Season 1 was pretty decent.
Posted 2 weeks agopretentious and artsy
Pretentious and artsy? Moi ??
Posted 2 weeks agoShining Girls (Elisabeth Moss) on Apple, is looking pretty good so far, three episodes in.
Also Mare Of Easttown (Kate Winslet) on Prime, I think, is really good
Posted 2 weeks agoWoodstock 99
I was there. I’m looking forward watching the documentary.
There was an atmosphere of macho / frat boy all weekend. It felt like a bunch of idiots were all pissed / off their face for the first time and didn’t know how to handle it.
It did get a bit dicey on the last night and we thought it was time to leave as stuff burned. It did take 4 hrs to get out of the car park – something to do with fire engines being let in
Posted 2 weeks agoI binged the whole of the Trainwreck Woodstock documentary in an evening.
It’s excellent and the my oh my the corporate promoter does NOT come off well!
Totally agree. Saw it on Sky Docs channel, really good. Wasn’t it Alanis Morissette on the bill amongst that lot too? Crazy stuff.
That might be the HBO one https://www.hbo.com/movies/woodstock-99-peace-love-rage, this is a new netflix produced one. Probably covers similar ground. Interesting how NDAs were mentioned in the Netflix one, which may have just run out…
Posted 2 weeks agoIf it hasn’t been mentioned already – The Gentlemen. Brilliant film
Hugh Grant being a brilliant actor…. Who knew 🙂

Both pretty good. Shining Girls was confusing in the early episodes but eventually they reveal what’s happening.

Ah yes. Didn’t know there was another one! Will check it out.
Anyone been watching The Baby on Sky? Last night’s episode (I don’t binge) was a shocker. Kids.. pencils.. Blimey. 😳
Posted 2 weeks agoLooks like I’ll be catching up with The Sandman at some point after finishing Succession, Obi-Wan,

We own the City, LoTR, etc etcdisco_stu
Free MemberLooks like I’ll be catching up with The Sandman at some point after finishing Succession, Obi-Wan,
Its great 🙂 when you watch it, note the colours of each of the 3 stained-glass windows in Dream’s palace.
Posted 2 weeks agoFinished The Boys, watched all 3 back to back, pretty good
Finished Stranger Things too, best season so far
Takes note on Shining Girls, I think sadly we are in the Apple demographic having very much enjoyed Severance and also The Essex Serpent.
The Sandman
Will start on this next. Hope it does not go the way of American Gods, which started with so much promise, only to go south; but as I have not read Sandman, I won’t know I guess.
As an aside – if I did want to read Sandman – where would I start? It looks involved.
Posted 2 weeks agoWoodstock 99. Especially enjoyed the bit that explained the frat boys were diving into human excrement.
Last breath – incredible story, hard to think it hasn’t been embellished given things like the post-event way finding luck!
Are these people self employed? As I was left stunned by the end credits message about 3 weeks later. Company not giving them some time off ffs?!
Posted 1 week agoWe’ve just binge watched Woodstock 99 – absolutely off the chart bonkers! 😳
The corporate promoters were so wilfully delusional, greedy and obnoxious (they were clearly more bothered about their ‘brand’ than peoples safety) I was half hoping there was going to be some sort of Lynch mob justice metered out at the end
Posted 1 week agoJust watched the first couple of episodes of The Sandman. It’s VERY good. With Gaiman directly involved it has just the right mix of fairy tale, high fantasy and humanity.
Brilliant cast too.
Caveat. It’s one ‘classic’ comic I’ve never actually read. Obviously I knew the gist of it but I have no real preconceptions to be disappointed by.
Shorthand. It’s like a properly grown up Stardust or a Neverwhere with (much) more than a mid-90’s BBC budget. Both of those statements are recommendations…
Posted 1 week agoCompany not giving them some time off ffs?!
Im sure the company offered them as much time off as they wanted but with the sort of mentality that it takes to be a sat diver and the probable fact that they can compartmentalise such situations much better than mere mortals, it’s also likely that to get back to work and a routine that is familiar is beneficial to moving on/getting over it.
Posted 1 week agoIm sure the company offered them as much time off as they wanted
Hmm, perhaps. I’m not so confident.
Interesting point on the mentality, but if anything the program showed a range of people from the chap with an emotionless Vulcan mindset, to Duncan(?) who was obviously at the other end of the scale.
Certainly for the main chap (Chris?), I’d have hoped the company insisted he take time off to recover, or just time away from that environment. Carry on building his house whatever, he didn’t strike me as a person with no plans outside of work, but then there was a telling moment in the doc where he wanted to prove he was as capable as everyone else, or something like that. Maybe that angle took over in his head.

Yup,same here,two episodes in.

Feels like the first thing in a while that I want to watch slowly and not binge.
Have not read the stories, which may turn out to be a good thing. 😀
