If there are bears in the area you should be careful. Wearing a bell is advised to alert the bears to your location and a pepper spray should be carried in case the bear becomes aggressive.
Bears can be identified by their poo. Black bear poo is small and dark in colour containing seeds and undigested berries. Brown bear poo is large, smells strongly of pepper and contains little bells.

Not much help, but by coincidence one of my new kittens cimbed up and shat on my bed this morning while I was lying in it. Not a good start to the day. Didn’t look like that though.
