Water coming through the kitchen ceiling….

From what I can see, a load of stuff has blown in the gutter, the water is flowing down the house now, and in through the kitchen extension!

Not sure I want to go up a ladder in this wind to sort it!

Wind has suddenly died down here to might go check our gutters too, I suspect is was just the shear volume of water that was causing them to spew out all over the side of the house though.

So has mine! Water dripping down the wall in the lounge, leaking from chimney.

Just another thing to be fixed. 🙁

I’m just taking it as read that our crappy conservatory is leaking like a sieve, it’s always a wee bit surprising that it doesn’t blow down tbh.

Thought this was going to be about….you know…. Leeks.

Mine too . Wind seems to be blowing the rain in under the Velux window up in the loft. Its constantly dribbling down the wall and into a Wok.
The joy of living 100m from the sea, and its supposed to get worse around midnight . Be lucky not to lose a few tiles if thats the case.

Velox in lounge leaking slightly and water coming down from above windows in bedroom (not the usual place its leaks so that’s a surprise 🙄 ) 🙁

Currently leak free as we had our flat roof replaced last week. It’s no longer felt and chippings, but a rather kinky one piece rubber number.

Still dripping here. 😐

Oh well, at least the biggest tree in the garden that came down has now been sorted. 🙂

My neighbours chimney caps tried to come in my dormer last time before wedging its self into the grass

Spent that sunday replacing tiles and retrieving the rest of her chimney caps from the chimney.

No leaks as yet.

Quick q – who do I need to speak to about flashing (?) around a chimney as reckon that’s the problem. Roofer? General builder?

It was pissing down through the ceiling tiles in my plate-making room at work today, never done it there before. Building used to drip everywhere, but the firm had a second skin placed on top, which stopped it. There’s a ventilation gap along the edge, though, and that faces south; the wind is from the south-west, so it’s blowing the rain straight underneath, and finding the roof seam where two sections of the building join. Bugger. At least it’s not dripping all over my plate exposing frame, with the mercury-vapour bulb in the top.
Blowing like a blowy thing here in Chippenham at the moment, and it seems to be raining again…

Yep we have a leak. Poor seals and serious rain to blame

if you really feel the need to go out flashing, please stay on the ground, its far too windy to expose yourself on the roof 😆

either a dedicated roofer or any general builder with experience should be fine. dont let them use the bitchimin sticky tape stuff though- it never works

what do you mean by a ventilation gap along the edge.if its an overclad of an asbestos roof don’t think its needed

Flashing’s a job for a plumber skilled in lead work, few and far between nowadays.

Plumbers don’t seem to bother any more …a good roofer will know or be a lead worker …….they’ll sort out your chimney CG

Now I’m home.. Getting here was fun! Trees, floods, diverted taxi ride etc. .

Kitchen is buggered! Around a liter per min since I got back!

Had rain dripping down on the inside of my PVA window frames last night as the rain was lashing against the outside wall. Emergency – towel on widow sill time!
I think must have some issues with the pointing as i think its getting into the wall cavity and running down until it finds its way out through the window frames…..

Repointed flashing washed out by rain and resultant waterfall in bedroom kept us awake last night. Mrs W off to work thinking the house will have floated away when she comes back tonight. My trip to the pub at lunchtime looks as though it will be on hold for a while. BUT only for a while!!!

It’s an old door with 15 little panes of glass in it. Water is seeping around the edges of those and under the door as the wind batters it. Overdue renovation or replacement.

The fence at the end of the garden has also been smashed to pieces. Could be worse though, this is down just around the corner.

Water through our walls this morning. A combination of porous bricks, blown in cavity wall insulation and internal render replaced with plaster during building works. I’ll be treating the outside with Weathershield Facade cream once the dry weather finally arrives. Hopefully that will work or it’s the expensive option of the cavity wall insulation being removed.

Couple of fence panels down and the back gates in pieces. Mum and Dad who live just over the road have lost a few tiles and the house opposite has lost some guttering.

Lead specialist or really, really good roofer who does lead properly. Anything other than lead is a bodge, and most general roofers or builders don’t do lead properly (having had roofers flash a chimney which had to be demolished after it cracked due to their efforts).

All IME of course.

I spent 1100-1200 trying to figure out how to stop a patio door being a water feature . The wind was so strong it was pushing up the drain slots in the runners , which were full of water as the wind was so strong it was pushing the glass off its seals .
The rain was filling the gully, and the wind was blowing up the slots , spitting the water about 50cm into the Lounge.
About an hour of headscratching and I BlueTacked a length of wood above the drain slots . The wind still blasted through the drain gully , but the water jets hit the wood instead of the carpet , and returned to the gullly.
