I have to say the women’s game is very good to watch live, whilst you still look at the screens it is not to find out what the hell happened, it is just to get a closer look at what you saw. This is because the bowling is that bit slower. This means you can see it in the air and gives you a much better appreciation of what both the bowler and batsman are doing. Mike Atherton makes this point in his Times article. Flashing stumps are also fantastic for the live spectator as it is so easy to see when they are broken.

Great game, great day and an experience I certainly plan to repeat.

I only heard a bit of it, hopefully available on iplayer or a podcast.

My personal favourite was a Lords test a few years back, possibly Australia, on a day when Her Maj was visiting so they had an extended lunch with ‘proper’ food. And somehow Aggers had got a copy of the lunch menu and was going through it with Tuffers, who was displaying a hitherto unexpected grasp of some of the finer points of the culinary art. Highlight was his explanation why saltmarsh lamb was so superior to other types only for Aggers to suggest the only lamb he Tuffers would recommend was that in a doner kebab. Proper upper class bantz!
