I’ve got a fair few M4A files (probably 1k) that I need to convert to MP3 as my Pixel 3 will intermittently not play them. And I’m sick of waiting for the issue to be fixed.

So, can anyone recommend some software to convert them? Preferably something I can leave doing chunks of them at a time.

I don’t know if Audacity will work with M4A files but it’s worth a try – it is free after all. Will create MP3s at either 160kbps or 320kbps if you want higher quality than yer average MP3

Handbrake should do what you want.

Edit: Sorry, meant to say VLC. Although Handbrake may work.

Thanks both, will have a look at Audacity but already have VLC so will investigate that first. And Handbreak.

    I use Freemake

    That fre:ac looks good though.

xACT is made for bulk music file conversion, so if you have a Mac, get that.

I use it all the time (for flac to apple lossless, but it handles every filetype).

I’ve used MediaHuman Audio Converter on PC for years. Drag and drop, bulk conversion.
