It depends whether or not your “devil’s advocate” costume is back from the cleaners I should think,

Thought you didn’t believe in the Devil?

Make your mind up, will you?

    😀

So with the car crash that the UK is becoming with falling incomes, underfunded services, housing crisis, gig economy the beeb deems that all it has to offer is more religion to fall in line with this trend.

Nothing in that paragraph suggests a belief in an invisible magical being of any sort.

You must be a bit dim.

Yeah, I hear that a lot.

It’s the lack of mental sharpness. Lots of folk comment on it.

    It’s probably all the brainwashing.

    Like i said….. Merry Christmas!

    Brilliant troll from the OP!

There’s some intolerant and brainwashed people on both sides of the religious argument. 😆

Although, I suppose if you take the Albigensian view, “the devil” is precisely what the official forms of the Christian religion are and by extension, the other silly versions of the same superstition.

You’d have to believe in the whole ridiculous and laughable premise in the first place, though.

    Merry Winterval.

Is it time to point out that capitalism and socialism are essentially forms of religion, therefore we are already awash with religious programming (the news and current affairs).

You can read and comment on anything you like. I just don’t see the logic in actively taking time out of your day to read and comment on something you seemingly have no interest in, and popping up just to basically go “well this is shit” adds nothing to discussion. It’s utterly bizarre behaviour. Reading the entire forum isn’t mandatory you know.

does that mean you have a particular interest in people who comment on things that they appear to have no interest in?

ok, I’m supporting Mr Woppit 🙂

Religion is a disgraceful attempt to prevent progress and enlightenment by brainwashing children into dogmas based on superstition.

can’t see anything untrue about that statement. Why do we complain about religeous cults when they involve adults but freely allow minors to be indoctrinated?

Having any faith schools in this country is a disgrace.

Children from religious families are less kind and more punitive than those from non-religious households, according to a new study.

It must be the basis for a large percentage of actual racism in the world – people regarding where they were born as an act of god rather than a crapshoot, and therefore justifying their views of ‘other’ people.

Add to that the justification for regarding people from other religions as different as well.

Cougar ..almost as bizarre as you having to take time out of your day to comment on it!
My point being ..not that it was “shit ” as you so wrongly interpreted ..but the fact that as it wasn’t too long ago that we had the last ” religion ” thread that seemed to drag on forever ..was there any real need for another ?..
Again though thanks for your concern ..and for allowing me to choose what I’m allowed to read and comment on ..appreciated 😐

Take time out of his day! This is his day haven’t you noticed. He leads such an empty unfulfilled life without the love of god in it that he has loads of time for such frivolity.

An interesting theory which I read about in Sapians. Hard to argue against yet hard to fit in to one of the boxes either called Religion or Real Things in my head.

They’re discussing this on Radio 2 at the moment. I just caught a couple of minutes when I nipped out for lunch, Jeremy Vine was interviewing a “healer” who teaches holographic breathing…

Then surely we should have a slot for him/her as well.. After all we need to represent all of the BBC’s customers… 🙄

You’ve got to remember, if you’re criticising this, that religious programming doesn’t just appeal to the religious- for exactly the same reason that so many churchgoers don’t believe in god. It’s a nice thing to have on the telly. Music, nice pictures, people being happy together. You don’t have to ride a motorbike to watch the racing and you don’t have to have a god to enjoy the godding.

Religious programming is dirt cheap to make, so that’s a positive. But it should be representative. Right now it’s an anglican-fest which is daft- their numbers have fallen by 50% in the last 20 years, and today they account for only 15% of the population. Catholicism accounts for 2/3ds as many people so should have 2/3ds of the air time. Other christian sects should have more. Bring on the muslim mainstream screen time too. Other religions should have their share though that gets pretty small once you’re past the big 3. There certainly shouldn’t be a second more for protestant christianity til the others have equivalent representation, I’m sure anyone can see the fairness in that.

I suspect that’d make most of the people who support this lose their shit, too, so it’s got to be worth trying.

It’s actually not about more religious programmes, it’s about adding into story lines for soaps and such.

    Its about increasing coverage.

Some people like a bit religion, some don’t but they are advocacy groups of dubious record so shouldnt have an increasing influence within a state broadcaster.
Its that influence thats obvious here which makes this different from providing coverage if sporting events.

Humans have been putting their feet up in winter for tens possibly hundreds of thousand years before the JC story was written btw so the holiday doesn’t belong to any religion.

    Overall a questionable decision.

Brexit is a religion. It doesn’t seem to have done us much good having lots of that on the BBC.

So the BBC has begun it’s religious propaganda assault on the airwaves with the “Today” programme.

Accompanying the usual “(alleged) Thought for the day” drivel we had a completely fawning, uncritical review about the oft-touted christian apologist C. S. Lewis, an intellectual midget with all the writing skills of the average 12-year-old scribbling about “what I did on my holidays”.
