So after the BB200 my toenail on my big toe was bit sore and bruised

Apart from it wasn’t a bruise it was a load of blood and this clear puss stuff under the nail which flowed out at some point.

Anyway 4 weeks later and it’s still a bit weird so took some side cutters to it and cut it away now have about 2mm of nail left on one side fused to skin and it feels like a new nail has grown underneath.

Leave it or go be a burden on NHS

I’d post a picture but I’ve been here long enough to remember Capt D. Starships unplugged bar end

This thread is useful without pics.

BB200? Is that a new Bottom bracket standard?

You’re not bothering the NHS, you’re using it. The mere fact that you’re conscious enough to worry about this means it’s almost certainly worth seeing someone.

Might get the Leatherman out and just pull but suspect it will hurt..

I have no useful input here but I think we might be toe twins.

Can you get appointments to a podiatrist or do you have to go through a gp for this?

Is fine. Had you left the nail in it would go black, take months and then fall off. Then many months later finally grow back.

Bashed my toe a number of times and same each time.

Just watch the new nail growing back doesn’t ingrow. If it looks like it’s curling under, just tweak it up or cut edges down.

If it ingrows or the puss doesn’t go away, then see the doc.

Will do a final photo once I’ve Dremmel’d it.

Well pleased with my surgery skills, may offer to stand in when Docs are on strike. 😀

    Leave it/cut it off yourself.

I crushed my thumb and was full of blood etc below. Nail was attached at the front, rear and sides. Cut out the nail and a new one grew out (was already half grown beneath)

I’d say leave it to the professionals. I did, 12 days ago……

    Burn them with fire!!

No, I think it was phenol. According to the department that did it, the current look is about what they would expect. The nerves are growing back nicely now, so the cauterising “burns” are a tad sore. Not pretty, but you should have seen them before I had the nails removed.

You’ve got a choice here. You can go to the hospital, get loads of painful examinations, followed by inevitable amputation surgery and weeks of recovery.

Or, you can just leave it a while and it’ll drop off by itself.

Need to read the whole thing, attacked it with the Leatherman last night and the nail is gone!

    You lot are rank.

FWIW, my opinion with “bothering the nhs” revolves around what are they able to do!
    They cant bring it back!

they might give you some antibiotics or something, but from the fleetingest of looks  , it looks healthy, so i wouldnt worry. Ive lost whole nails before, both toes and fingers. They grow back fine in the end. Keep the snaggy bits in check and forget about it.
