That reminds me time to make some and a charistmas pudding – I’m not confident of the Oz options…..

Though strangely enough they seem to be importing the Hesten Blumenthal Waitrose Christmas range (will check it’s not last years)

I’ve been testing this years batch of xmas puds and mince pies for about the past 6 weeks.

All in the name of research you understand.

Waitrose are my fav at the moment.

Two at lunch today. We have a spreadsheet at work rating different brands on taste, texture, size, moistness, aroma etc. to find the best. I took in Sainsbury’s fresh baked today and they are currently winning.

If anyone is in North/East Yorkshire and has a Cooplands nearby, try the brandy butter ones with a star shape on top. I live further south now so can’t get them. Whilst you’re at it, you could post me some 🙂

Not to early to start taste testing – you need to do some research to find the best ones before stocking up for Christmas

Not had any yet. Too early.

My neighbour put their lights up at the weekend!!

Top tip. Avoid the Heston pies. Especially with the sugar that smells of disinfectant.

The highlight of the season. Only had one so far. Must pie harder.

Mince pies are too good to be kept just for the festive season, deserve to be enjoyed all year round IMHO.

Having said that, I can’t remember when I last had one, as I haven’t done Christmas for a couple of years now being abroad 🙁

    Cheers, Rich

A couple of months ago, Mrs Feet spread a whole jar of mincemeat on some filo pastry and whacked it in the oven. It was quite nice, but as a type 1 diabetic, the after effects were, well, lets just say ‘best hidden’ from the doctor!

We tried them there Hestons Pine Sugar Jobbies from Waitrose the other week, I didn’t find them to be anything special at all, in fact a bit meh…. and it took me the 4th delve into the box to find the Pine Sugar that you should sprinkle on top before eating.. didn’t taste that much better after being sprinkled TBH.

But I do love them, but need a single malt to fully appreciate them.
