  • Mid life crisis car
  • Not really having a crisis, but quite fancy one. For a 4.5s 450bhp V8 ‘luxury’ sports coupe, they aren’t stupid money now. Would you, or something else?

I’m guessing, this being STW, the Audi won’t be a popular choice and expecting some leftfield replies – set the bar at around £25k

I’m not going to judge, I just wish I could afford the insurance. Watching with interest.

First online quote I did – 48 years old, no claims in 5 years, but no NCD either (use that on my commercial policy) came in at £800

If you’re really serious, this belonged to one of my mates – the description about ‘no expense spared’ is absolutely true…

Amazing thing but it is thirsty 🙂

You need a T5, they are the new mid life crisis vehicle!

Just fancying at the moment, nothing concrete. And as nice as that is, mileage is getting on the high side and the pre-facelift are looking very dated now. Would love an RS6 Avant, but talking £35k+ for what I’d want

    Want a bigger V8?

Less horses, slower, thirstier, won’t handle half as well and…… It’s a Vauxhall

    Z4m coupe

As good a car as it is, I’d have the newer 35is

Best sounding V8 is in a Maserati GranTurismo.

Beautiful car and seats 4 for the practical mid life crisis owner 😉

Masser GT is indeed very beautiful, but lookup how much they weigh. If I took the seats out of my velle it’d weigh less!

    Yeah, but it’s rather lovely.

I noticed that v10 m5s are getting tòwards £10k. Chuck some straight through pipes on and pretend to be a f1 car. (Not on public roads though 😉).

For 25k i’d probaly get a old escort with a yb engine.

TVR Cerbera, or you could maybe squeeze a T350 in for that budget.

You’ll get a 997 but prob a gen1 so get it checked for bore scoring or buy a rebuilt one. Much fun for not a lot of money.

Certainly wouldn’t be even on my list, depends what you want from a car though

    I’ve always wanted a Cayman.

    Not red though, I’m a subtle mid-lifer

Seems life a soft-crisis type car to me, unless it will be your only car then you may as well go a bit more bonkers like the TVR suggestion above. That Audi would be fine as a daily driver, far too tame for a mid-life crisis car :p

I’m looking at a TTS or older RS to scratch that itch. I’ve always wanted a TT even though I know they’re not everyone’s cuppa.

The Mk.2 TT Coupe is surprisingly practical, assuming that you ignore the rear two seats and just use them folded down as a larger boot. You can, just, fit an XL Spesh Stumpy in there with the wheels off.

Just don’t buy the V6. As much as it is an awesome drive, the tax is a killer and fuel economy is poor. Go for a TTS with the paddle shift if you want one. The gearbox seams to fit the engine quite well and the tax is cheaper.

I don’t think any audi can really be classed as a mid life crisis car, theyre too sensible, too boring to drive etc.

How about an American v8 of some sort, corvette? Porsche 911 (not the 4wd variant though) is a good bet, z4m coupe would be good too.

    This.

    Or a Mustang.

Does it need to carry kids?

My midlife crisis car needs to carry 3 (plus 2 adults), so it would essentially be fast barges

That’s an Exec saloon rather than mid-life crisis car!

Buy a rust free mx-5 for £2k and get a rocketeer V6 conversion done and you’ll have a much more unique midlife crisis car for way under budget… And it’ll sound better too

50’s hot rod with flame paint job. The top picture is dull dull dull no where near a crisis.

Here in Blackburn a car like that is despised as a typical, er, Blackburn car. In fact any German saloon car especially a blue one has a very bad image. I’d rather drive around more discretely and save my cash for the joys of retirement.

Ooh, the V6 MX5 looks a laugh. I’ve seen vids of the quick Mazda3 MPS transplant but not a Jaaaaaaaag.
