    is there some sort of conversion table so i can take a ruler to foot , convert into whatever units they call them and order confidently online??..

    As different shoe manufacturers use different lasts (The fake foot they mould the shoe around) so one manufacturers shoe can be a very different fit in the same apparent size.

    For example, for the best fit I take:
    Scarpa Womens 41 (UK 7)
    Mammut/Raichle Mens 42 (UK8)
    Specialized 43 (UK 9)
    Next UK 10

    A lot depends on what type of shoe you’re after, but if you plan to be in them for a long time, it’s almost certainly better if you can go to an actual shop and try them on first.

    Holy shit clarks has changed since I were a lad.

    Just go in and try them on.

    Then you can go home and order them online 😉
