I’m off to the Alps soon and will be upgrading my rubber to Maxxis Minions, anyone got an idea of the maximum width that can be fitted on to a 2011 stumpjumper fsr comp. I currently have the Specialized 2.2 up front and 2.0 rears which are now worn!

Was thinking Minnion DHF (Dual ply, 42a) 2.5 for the front. Would I get away with a 2.5 on the back?

DHF Minions are very strangely sized tyres. The 2.5 wired 2 plys blow up tall and narrow (narrower than a 2.4 Nobby Nic/Big Betty, and narrower than a 2.4 Ardent) but the 2.5 folding single plys have a lower, squatter, wider profile – still not full-on 2.5 territory but wider than the wired Minions 😕

    This is on 32mm rims.

Would advise against the ultra-narrow 2.35 Minions they are an attempt by Maxxis to put a DH tread on an XC carcass.

Thanks, sounds like the 2.5 will fit the rear. cheers
