I’m looking at getting a set as an affordable option for general XC type riding. Any opinions, reasons to, or not to get a pair would be much appreciated.

I bought some around 6 years ago, so they may have changed the spec since then. The bearings wore out really fast, 6 months or so. I changed them, didn’t cost too much from a bearing supplier. A few months later, the freehub bearing was shot. Factory only part, around £70 iirc, so the wheels went on ebay.
I then made up a pair of wheels myself, Hope hubs, mavic rims, spokes from local shop, and I haven’t ever had them apart in nearly 5 years.
I’d never buy a pair of ’boutique’ wheels again, get a pair made up by a good builder, and they’ll last years if made with good components.
    Alan.
