Probably more to do with fact that it’s gone all cold and dark out there, metal doesn’t sit so well when it’s boiling hot and all you want to do is sit in the shade with a cold drink.

    Winter however… That’s Metal time!

Sat here listening to 1980s Saxon on Youtube.

Wife has booted me off Spotify as she’s listening to Magnum whilst driving to her client meeting using it.

hahaha… ^^^ I never knew they were filming when I was dancing in the woods 😉

a couple of other forums i look at have ongoing metal/rock threads… they are used to let people know if you find some new metal or a new album that you recommend. We should do this.

The new Machinehead album is one of the best of the year and the Slipknot is also rather spiffing chaps:

Just had my first listen to the new machine head album and already seems like one of their best but need more time…

wiggles, defo is IMO. First two tracks just blew me away, and it continues. Great album. I like slipknot but between these two albums machinehead gets more listens.

I’d also recommend Ghost Brigade, they are a bit more Mastadon but better.

NOLA by Down, Houses of the Unholy by Church of Misery and all of Every Time I Die are great summer albums! For the cold I switch to Fall of Efrafa/Lightbearer and Neurosis/Amenra type stuff. BLEEEAAAAKKK!

The foo fighters sound city programmes have been pretty wonderful in making me rediscover bands I had nearly forgotten or had missed first time round

Been having a major Kyuss session having not listened to them in twenty years, bloody hell they were good!

Currently going a bit of a cheesy phase so Ancient Bards, Pathfinder and Turisas are getting a fair bit of airtime.

New one from Bloodshot Dawn is worth checking out too, sweet widdly melo-death.

Enjoying is definitely the right word!

There are a couple more albums and 2 or 3 EPs that you can download for free from a few blogs if you search (the band put them online for free). The first Lightbearer album is worth a listen too, singer and (I think) 1 guitarist from FoE

I’m going to have to listen to all this later.

On a sidenote, Kyuss were bloody excellent. 😀

Shame QotSA never really lived up to the legacy IMHO.

Worth it, I met Rodney Matthews at The Wulfrum, he is a huge fan (as well as doing their artwork).

Not sure, I somehow missed Saxon first time round and have only got into them recently….

If you lose a metal thread I would recommend in most situations a hellicoil insert.

Aww man, the nu-Metal revival is coming, I can feel it in my bones, sensible father of two now but spent a fair chunk of 2001 losing my ever-loving mind to Toxicity.

For now Nu-metal remains the most reviled musical form out there, it’s basically Hipster Kryptonite, that could be why I’m feeling progressively more well disposed towards it, rose tinted nostalgia could be playing a part here as well.
