- Long term sick – CFS and Fibromyalgia
I haven’t signed on for six years so this might be out of date.
When I was made redundant I got six months on income support because I had been in work for a certain amount of time and had paid enough national insurance. After six months my money would have stopped as I lived with my girlfriend who worked full time.
As she is ill she may be able to claim disability living allowance, but there are many hoops to jump through.Posted 5 years agoslowoldgitMember
You both have my sympathy. I had an ME diagnosis which got me benefits for a while. It also got me to see a helpful and sympathetic person at the jobcentre. Though the rules must have changed since.
It has to be worth registering in some way for the NI contributions, doesn’t it?Posted 5 years agoflipiddyMember
Is she getting good advice on how to tackle the problem? 12 months is a long time to be off work. I’m not judging, as both myself and my mum have been in a similar position. Thankfully both of us are much better, but it’s been a long road. NHS help can be limited. Email me if there’s anything you want to discuss.Posted 5 years ago
