ehem, excuse me whilst I take a slightly clearer picture…

    There you go.

Strange, despite looking perfectly visible on my iphone4s the images look like a world of gloom on my mbp15r?!? are the images visible on ‘normal’ laptops?

If I were to install another burner in a room this size, I’d just go for a log burner not a multi-fuel.

stuartie, what model is your boiler? Looks nice and small which means a soon-to-be-mine fireplace might not need knocking about as much as I’d feared…

Yes. A fitted gas fire with wooden mantelpiece etc. The fitter managed to reuse the hearth.

It’s quite a snug fit but easily heats the room.

    Yeoman CL5 Multifuel.

Fairly compact, 5kW output. The original fireplace was enormous when excavated so we built back in the way to reduce the size of the opening.

Presently in front of me, but in a couple weeks will be a pot belly stove roaring away.

The Aga one up there is in the lounge i’m sat in.

The other is in my winter hideaway in an apple orchard.
Little stoves in the kitchen and lounge/bedroom.
And loads of Apple wood to keep me warm.
Need to set the chainsaw on it this week and get it covered/aired.

    So it’s just a location change. 😉

The decorating/finishing is still a work in progress but nearly there.

My home is a 1990 timber frame build, it had a standard external chimney with a square clay gas flue fitted inside, plus a tacky fake marble fireplace in front that you got with new builds at the time.

Took out the old fireplace, knocked out the existing fire brick back, amazed how much extra space you can get to your fireplace once that and the sand behind have been taken out, put in two lintels to support the existing flue, then a new liner and custom fabricated top plate, which also acts as a deflector for the Oak beam.
