Like sugru, but non adhesive – suggestions?

I’ve a project in mind that would require clamping a collar, designed for a straight stainless tube circa 22mm into a  tapered stainless tube – so will need a shim. Non structural & not needing to hold a large force or heavy load.

Probably a good job for a 3D printer, but I don’t have one and don’t plan to buy one.

could also bodge with wraps of self amalgamation tape, but prefer something “neater”

I could use sugru to make the shim, but I do not want to glue the parts together. Ideally it would be like sugru and harden into a monolithic firm rubber shim, but not adhere to the metal. Is there a product on the market that would achieve this?

I was going to suggest wrapping both items in clingfilm before fitting, then removing it once the Sugru has set.

Any heat involved that might need to be accounted for?

Duct tape or aluminum tape?

Polymorph plastic ?

It’s starts off as plastic granules that you put in hot water for a bit. It becomes mouldable and then once cool hardens.

Can you use that to fix a dishwasher cutlery tray?

look up “blue stuff” might do what you say, i use it for creating moulds for resin components

I did this to make a shim for a seat post mudguard. I just wrapped cling film around the post and put a small bit around the clamp., worked fine.
