So after the epic last one, Amazon had a fair bit of business from me as I ordered Mount Gay XO (all gone), 1L of Kracken (still going) and the Diplomatico (not overly impressed, TBH)…
I still stand by my statement of Sailor Jerry being my favourie..it’s ‘licious with coke…!
I’ve recently discovered Red Leg rum – really nice for sipping neat as it’s got subtle vanilla flavours…
It’s fantastic so smooth, always take it neat.
Amazon is generally the cheapest place for it, can be had for about £40.
I guarantee you’ll love it, if you don’t I’ll dispose of it foc
Xmas party 2014, drank half a bottle or more of the stuff, insulted everyone I work with, tried to smoke 10 years after I quit and threw up, attempted to jog 5 miles home, made it 5m and was put in a taxi by my boss.
Old J spiced (the standard stuff, not tiki fire) is the recipe that sailor Jerry used to be.
My recommendation is El Dorado 12yo (approx £40) or older if you can afford it.
Havana Club Selección de Maestros is the one for your Christmas list Doc – limited availability in UK, about £55 for 70cl; taste – enjoy – then explore the more rarified offerings from Havana Club.
There’s a rum from Santiago da Cuba which I’ve tasted but never seen in the UK – it’s fabulous but that doesn’t help you to find it!
I think I’m the sort of person who would like rum. Tried Kraken cos it had a cool bottle but I think the spice bit I didn’t like. What would be an ok non spice rum for me to try?
BTW my wife would like to get a globe drinks cabinet so I need to expand my horizons…

XO, obviously.
This.
Anyway – the MG Black Label has arrived so I now have an embarrassment of riches in the cupboard, but am avoiding booze until Sunday night as I need to train/taper/race well for what is my final – and pivotal for league placement – race of the season Sunday afternoon.
This is amazeballs, especially when made into an old fashioned.
