My lad (8yr) wants to learn the drums and has bought himself a beginners set of eDrums with his Christmas/Birthday etc money.

Any decent app or YT channel recommendations for him to start with? Thanks

It feels like there are more drumming YouTube channels than there are stars in the sky, so its a case of sorting the gems from the dross, that said, this is, by far and away, my favourite drum teacher on YT

If it looks like he’s sticking it out (lol puns are funny) consider actual tuition too.

I was using the Drumeo app for a while, seemed pretty decent with lots of courses and extras, huge amount of content

Thanks, yeah would look at actual tuition if he takes to it. Will check out those above.

Do they offer drum lessons at his school? My 2 did drum lessons at primary school, and it was well cheap.

I’d look out a tutor. Both my kids had lessons (mini DBW000001 is still having lessons and is currently doing grade 5 and mini DBW000002 had lessons up until last year when he was 10 and decided it wasn’t for him (he does loads of football and swimming so fair enough) but that said, he is playing drums in a school orchestra thing this weekend. I’ve also had a few lessons and learnt far more in 2 x 30 minute lessons than I did trawling through youtube for online tutorials…

What drum kit is he using?

I really liked Melodics and Drumeo.

It’s a Carlsbro CDS-120. School focuses on Brass, he’s been learning the cornet but fancies having a go at drums.
