My wife's Acer Aspire 5050 has ceased to work. It is an ex laptop. Has anyone got a recovery cd they could post to me here in Oz (I'll pay postage etc)? I'm limited to a crappy 3G dongle here with terrible download speeds and bandwidth limitations and each time I try to get stuff from the Acer site I get server errors for various files at about 98% – quite frustrating when you need a 140meg file for the graphics card.

Yes and no. Don't have the original Vista disc so have got an OEM copy of XP Pro SP2 and whacked that on. Now I cannot find a driver for the Radeon Xpress 1100 (for XP Pro) or a driver for the SM Bus controller that works.

Anyone reverted to XP managed to find an Ati driver and SMbus driver (that works) ??
