Seems like a few people have been asking for route advice.

Heading up to Langdale this weekend for some walking with friends, but may be able to fit a ride in on Friday before they arrive.

This is very likely to be my one and only chance to ride in the Lakes this year, so would welcome suggestions for a route in that area or on the way – keeping in mind I am ‘soft southerner’ – have ridden the Black Mountains, Brecon etc. though and will have a go at anything.

    Thanks 🙂

Drop into Biketreks in Ambleside they should point you in the right direction.

Will you still be doing a ride if the weather’s not so good? If so, do Iron Keld, Hodge Close and Loughrigg. It doesn’t gain much height but is a good one to do when it’s wet and you’ll only have to bike a short way to join on to it.
If the weather’s nice though, do something else.

Grizedale might be worth a crack – loads of great XC loops. Knock one off before the crowds arrive..?

Depends what you want, rideable but tech trails or high mountain push carry?

If its the former, then string something together that covers iron keld, loughrigg and then either grizedale BWs (you could use part of the NW trail to link up) or over to Kentmere and back

For the latter, Helvellyn? Tour of Great Gable (hard)

Might be best to stick to the lower routes, lots of low cloud cover on higher rides likely if this weather stays as is.
Rode the Borrowdale Bash at the weekend in glorious sunshine and dry, dusty tracks 😆

Ended up doing Grizedale (trail Centre) in the morning and Iron Keld – Hodge Close – Loughrigg in the afternoon.
Did not enjoy Grizedale, but the afternoon ride left me with a big smile on my face despite wind and rain, best ride for ages, thanks for the suggestions 😀
