Do you need a medical certificate for this? I did for the etape and whilst I can’t find any mention of such a requirement on the website I don’t want trouble when we try to register.

The 2 descents on the climb of the Glandon would be pretty demoralising if you didn’t know they were there.
Oh, and don’t do too much work up the valley to the Telegraph, I did and regretted it on the Alpe d’Huez.

Yeah we had to produce medical certificates when we applied for entry in 2007. Basically just a statement from the doctor to say that you’re not likely to keel over and die from the exertion.

Having experienced riding up L’alpe D’huez on the day in 42 degree heat, I can safely say that all the medical certificates in the world don’t mean squat, judging by the number of people broken and fainting that I saw at the road side as I cruised majestically up the alpe with my 500 watts of silky smooth power output (or maybe not).

Last year up the Alpe d’Huez there was a bloke who started convulsing at the side of the road [gulp], although the one armed, one legged man was pretty inspirational.
