So my 10 year old 181k Hyundai i40 tourer looks to be on it’s last legs……
Contemplating the KIA Ceed SW 3 – 150bhp petrol.
What are peoples experience with them?
It states 50mpg combined, how realistic is this?

I need the SW and not the Proceed as I need to fit the wife’s wheelchair in the boot and it defo doesn’t fit in the proceed.

Hoping to sort a test drive out shortly but would appreciate any feedback both good and bad.
    Thanks.

I had one, and now have a Proceed, and liked it a lot. I’d still have it had it not got stolen of my drive…
Loads of space, lots of toys, drives well, long warranty, not much to complain about at all.
I was averaging 48mpg ish, so not far off the stated numbers.
    I’d buy another without hesitation.

Do you reckon you could fit a bike frame in the boot without dropping the rear seats? E.g. a modern medium 27.5 MTB?

Honest John Real MPG suggests it’s a shade under 50mpg

Also, have a look on fuelly.com. Make sure you have UK mpg selected, not USA

I had one as a hire car about 2 months ago. I drove along at my normal speed on the way there, ~90 miles, got well over 50mpg. Then on the way back I realised what it was like in 3rd and 4th on a couple of good B-roads I know well, it went well. Only negative I noticed was wind noise but all in all I liked it. Driven a lot of cars in recent years as I’ve been a hirer rather than owner until 2 yrs ago. That Kia and the Ford Focus were the best driving cars of them all. I was impressed with the Kia Sportage hybrid too but it was too big.

I’ve got the next size up, the Optima estate. It’s long, but short on height at the back door, I could not get my daughters wheelchair in without taking off the wheels. My bike could get in the boot area with both wheels off, no way will it fit with the back wheel in place, again, the lack of height stops it going in upright, it has to be laid down. Apart from that annoyance, it’s a great car.

I had one as a hire car for a couple of months and loved every second of it. It drove so, so nicely absolutely everywhere. It was genuinely enjoyable to be in.

Back seats down to get a bike in though (M frame Orbea Rise so not even a particularly big bike).

    Thanks all – appreciated.

Bikes will be going on the roof so no issues there.

Bit late with the update on this!

Well the Hyundai is actually FUBAR, so have bitten the bullet and I collect this on Saturday:

10 months old CEED SW 3 with 8.5k on the clock, Kia approved so full 7 year/100k warranty.

Drove really well on the test drive I had.

Hoping I can get 10 years out of this one too!!

My Optima is a really nice car, the boot is huge, however, it is low. I cant get my bike in it without dropping the back seats, even with both wheels off and the dropper down. As I noted above, the wheelchair wont go in with the wheels on either. It’s taken the gloss off it slightly. I’ve had to buy a roof rack carrier for the bike, as its such a pain to keep dropping the seats and taking both wheels off.

@alanl Wheelchair fits fine in the boot of this, which was the main factor to be honest.

Bikes will go on the roof as usual like my last few cars, means I’m not worried about getting crap all over the inside after a filthy ride.

That’s a lot of car for the money, my kia is 10 years old now and only regular services, tyres and boot struts just done (struts were 200 quid at dealer so I bought some from an indie shop, 30 quid a pair).  I ll get another kia so will put this on the shortlist, ta for post.

@poolman they do seem great value.

The ‘mid spec’ 6 month old Mondeo Estate I purchased in 2010 wasn’t much less than what I’ve paid for this – and it’s way better spec than the Mondeo.

The retail price on my 2014 Hyundai  was higher too I think…..

So took the car for a decent run up to the lakes earlier in the week.

Was very pleasantly surprised by the fuel consumption:

At one point I did see 57mpg on the motorway.
