Having seen lots of ads lately for Jumbo fish fingers, and being partial to the odd fish finger butty, tonight was the night. Now, you only get 6 in a box but no more need for fish finger origami getting them to fill your butty to a satisfactory level for consumption. It’s 3 whoppers per butty, 2 butties (or is it buttys?)  per box, bish bash bosh, job jobbed. Full belly and full marks from me.

Isn’t a jumbo fish finger just a fish fillet in breadcrumbs?

Or is it mandatory for them to be made of floor scrapings and that’s the differentiator from an actual fish fillet ?

I think they just dont taste the same as a regular fish finger, so I say double on those.

That’s because the fish based substance : breadcrumb ratio is off. Definitely like to dabble in both boxes myself though

Nope, proper fillet (according to box😉) and no floor scrapings is sight, shaped like a finger funnily enough. I get that my simple pleasures are not everyone’s, but who doesn’t like a fish finger butty?

My normal recipe would be 4 standard fish fingers per sandwich. White bread & tartare sauce preferable.

    One of my favourite sandwiches.

    And ketchup.

I wonder if adding a cheese slice would add a welcome taste sensation?

I am willing to experiment but dear the ratios will be upset.

most definitely. thick white bread, butter, fish fingers, tomato sauce and a kraft cheese slice (it has to be a “cheese” slice rather than real cheese_ . eminently dirty but a great for hangovers

Schoolboy error – everyone knows that a white sliced loaf was designed to take 5 fish fingers in a sandwich – four side by side and the fifth across the top.

Spicy Marie Rose concoction of mayo/ketchup/hot Nandos sauce. And a slice of plastic cheese if I’m feeling sluttish.

It’s fish, so the correct accompaniment is Vinegar.

    Tartare and fresh rocket.

Edit – and thick doorstop bread, this is not the time for cheap white sliced, save that for the bacon.

Usually Tommy sauce is the condiment of choice for my fish finger sarnies.

Although I have been known to partake in tartare sauce or even BBQ sauce before now.

One morning after the night before Mrs breadcrumb asked if I’d make us fish finger sandwiches when we got home, a friend turned his nose up at me and sneered “fish finger sandwiches? Urg”

A couple of hours later I received a text from said mate about the taste sensation he had been missing from the first ~25 years of his life…😆

If it’s a dinner its tartare sauce (like trailwaggers rocket idea), if its a lunch then its ketchup. Cheese is acceptable with either combo in my book.

Whatever sauce you fancy, it’s got to be crusty doorsteps at least an inch thick. Same goes for bacon sarnies, sosidge sarnies and sosidge & bacon sarnies.
A crusty bap is an acceptable substitute at a push.

Tomato sause one side (with cheese if you like) and mayo and hot chilli sauce the other, for the win. With lots of salt and vinegar on the fish fingers.

But your all weirdo’s so I’ve given up worrying about how you lot eat

It has to be on Warbie’s toastie loaf to maintain the council estate theme.

As for sauce: HP all the way for me.

    It’s not difficult.

    5 normal fish fingers.
    Good, thick white bread.
Butter, and don’t be shy with it.
Tartare and a dash of ketchup.

Cheese has no place with fish, and I say that as a cheese lover.

Tartare, ketchup and rocket and if no tartare then ketchup, mayonnaise, capers and finely sliced onion to recreate tartare (assuming you are too lazy to actually make tartare). I make sourdough but I’d go for Warburtons Toastie or similar.

Tarter sauce, laid on thick half way through cooking ftw
Cook for 8 mins on tray, rotate, spread, back in the oven with those fish based bad boys.
Then you are not putting fridge cold condiments straight onto hot food
Cooked tartar sauce slso changes the flavour too, and white bread obvs

No ketchup ever. On anything. Tartare and salad. Lemon can be good.

I’m like the jumbo fish finger as well. If not jumbo’s has to be a minimum 4 normal fish fingers, then mature cheddar and my home made tartare sauce.

Those little jars of tartare don’t last long in our house, so I have make my own!
