In my youth his name was regularly mentioned in “Dirt Bike” magazine.

Thanks for the memories. RIP Joel Robert.

Hero of my youth, Malherbe, DeCoster, Carlsson, Mikkola, Jobe at Hawkestone Park. Jumpers for goal posts etc etc
Imagine sitting waiting for the gate to drop with a Hakan on one side and a Heikki on the other, you wouldn’t stand a chance.

Was at the end of his career when I started in mx, but was one of the Belgian greats that was used as a yardstick for every up and comer. RIP.

Gates? You had gates? Lucky to have a rope and a flag where we were.

A hero of mine too, I had a poster of him & Roger de Coster on my bedroom wall. I used to try & emulate them by roaring round a disused quarry on my Tiger Cub with a straight through exhaust. I was only 13.

    RIP Joel.

    A hero and a legend

One of my favourite Joel Robert moments, a facial expression at 2.50 that says it all.

    RIP
