Hi guys sorry for another post but here are the details for the event,I,ve throw a website together not my bag but I,ve done my best as not everyone is on Facebook 🙂 https://richardmunro5.wixsite.com/jennride https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Richard-Munro7
Amazingly we have raised over 10 thousand pounds for St Gemmas Hospice with one very generous donation of 5 thousand pounds from an individual who wants to remain anonymous 😯 🙂
Wheelbase Cycles have kindly donated 200 bottles of beer for the riders on their return
Various companies and individuals have donated bits and bobs for the raffle with the centre piece a framed artwork from Binners .T-shirts were requested, so we have had some done, all money from the raffle and t- shirts and entries(donation of ones choice) on the day will be going to Macmillan Cancer Care.
Ive ordered sunshine and showers for the weekend
Beers on Friday night 7pm onwards in the Hawkshead Brewery, everyone welcome and if you are in the Lakes this weekend give the riders a cheer.
Thanks for the website details Rich- I’m not really doing fb anymore, so good to have the details all in one place…
Hope to catch some of you in the Eagle and Child on Friday night after a loooong drive up from Devon.
Looking forward to it!
Thats the one Ned 🙂
First rider left today he is taking it steady and doing a mix of both routes !
Art work by my daughter 🙂 Sign on tomorrow during the day will be in Wheelbase until 5.30pm then outside under the Wheelbase Gazebo thing until 7pm. Then transferred upstairs at the Hawkshead Brewery not forgetting the raffle until closing. On Saturday back at the Gazebo 🙂

Just to remind everyone that we’ll be at the Hawkshead Brewery this evening, and we’ll be raffling off this framed print of Stoodley Pike. All proceeds to Jenns charities

Will be packing the bike this evening (hopefully before we start on the wine 😆 ), the bags and harnesses are already fitted, just need to put the kit in them.
Currently apprehensively kicking my heels on the campsite outside Staveley enviously watching the old boy opposite on his electric bike thinking I’ll need one tomorrow evening
Well chuffed I made it round, personal challenge achieved:)
Thanks to Richard and all the unnamed helpers, plus the riders along the way.
Funny thing is you camp, bivi on top of a hill miles from the population and you’re surrounded by biking folk!
Hope the guy who went OTB was OK.
C
Re: the OTB guy – see this thread he was looking pretty stiff at the pub in Hawkshead when I saw him – I think he was more worried about telling his wife! He made it round though as I saw him at the finish.
What about Andy with the fatbike who had a tubeless rimstrip failure near Troutbeck? Tried to help, but we were short of kit and ideas! Did he get it sorted?
We had a great time, stayed in a good mood all the way round. First time I’d ridden the Puffin anywhere that rocky and rubbly, and it was perfect – keep motoring on the way up, get away with more on the way down. Giggling (nervously!) all the way down Garburn. JJims didn’t give too much away to the others on the road either.
Big thanks to Rich and the other volunteers for making this happen, had a great time, even if I did ride my poor old bike into the ground!(Thanks to the guy at the top of Troutbeck who gave me cable ties to fix my hub!)
Was great to be so warmly greeted in my dishevelled state at the end-and a hot shower before my long drive home was a wonderful thing indeed.
Enjoyed chatting to some of you as you passed me, but also enjoyed some quality alone time too. Had some great spots – a Tawney Owl at 7 on Sunday morning, a Cuckoo on the climb up Troutbeck, and (I think) a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker near Chapel Stile.
I managed to lose my pump somewhere between Hawkshead and Breasty Haw-don’t suppose anyone picked it up? Silver Lezyne one?
Funds are standing at 10,320 + 2430 gift aid for St Gemmas Hospice and 490 for Macmillan Cancer Care in the bucket from the raffle and on the day donations 🙂
Cheers for all that Rich. A bit tired at the moment! Next year will be a bit more chilled I think, we are planning on using the fat bikes, was on a bit of a mission this time 😆
Thanks again Rich for organising this ride, it stepped up a gear from last year! I have to say its the only bike event i have been to that had a ‘before and after’ professional photoshoot, makes me wonder what you will pull out of the bag next year! 🙂 huge amount of money raised, with a special nod in the direction of the person that gave £5K – amazing generosity!.
Cheers to all the people I rode alongside, wether it was for a few miles or a day – everyone was friendly, encouraging and smiling – even with lost chains, destroyed rear mechs, mud and rain!
anyhoo, took a couple of shots..

Thanks nedrapier and postrich for the assistance. Learnt the folly of weight saving by omitting a spare tube 😳 Rich saved the day just as I was contemplating a slow walk down to a bike shop….
Nearly punctured Rich’s spare by trying to inflate it with three thorns still embedded in my rear tyre!! Luckily I realised in time and it lasted the whole ride and the one home. Luck stayed with me on the ride through Northants blackthorn trails arriving home with a twig attached to the still tubeless front 😕
Ah one of the problems with an early start is you miss the photos, but without the early start I’d never have completed the ride. Now recognise many of the faces as they caught me up and enjoyed a bit of banter. Nice to see a few familiar faces, a couple from sporting JMC jerseys who I rode with a couple of weeks ago on a Monday Night Pub Ride round Cragg Quarry. a big hand to Rich and his many helpers, Rich is still working I had a walk into Staveley yesterday he was taking down the signage.
Only taking down a few signs and buying the Wheelbase boys a coffee and brownies to share great ride today nice hike bike with a pint and arf to finish Untitled by Richard Munro, on Flickr Untitled by Richard Munro, on Flickr
Saw all you guys around the New Dungeon Ghyll on Saturday. We were walking back having bailed out of the Old County Tops fell race due to the horrible conditions high up. Great to see so many folk of all ages and bikes obviously having fun. Strangely appropriate location too as the first time I met Jenn was at the NT car park by the NDG when she rescued us from richpips winter Bob Graham attempt. Well done on the tremendous fund raising!
