This is how the Japanese do their bike storage. Looks like a great system! Not sure if it’s fat bike compatible though..
I give it 100+ years before it arrives in the UK.

It seems every country outside of the UK knows how to do things properly. They also have high capacity towers to park cars in Japan in a similar fashion to this, also over in Europe, underground multi-story car parks are commonplace in major towns and cities. It takes us over 10 years and multi-billion dollars to lay a bit of rail track between London and Birmingham. Imagine how long it would take and how much it would cost for us to start burrowing under our towns and cities to create a bike storage system.

^ How do you get the scooters/motorbikes out of that? Do you have to go up the escalator?

I remember seeing this is in Munich

It’s their theme park, next to the main plant in Wolfsburg.

How much would that cost to build, just to store 200 bikes?

It would probably cost £10/hr over here to use it

    That bike park thingy..

We’d have a 6ft high razor wire fence around it, then a bloke in a high vis, then a security guard, then a scrote watching your prize goods go down, then a dog would piss up it, then you’d be rejected cos your debit card was cloned.. Etc. etc.

    Never happen here.

Exactly how my car parking at home works. But had only 1 keyfob to request a platform to park it, and to request the car be returned.

Has 28 parking bays in a line in the basement: 7 slots end to end, stacked 2 cars high on each side.

Handy… till it goes wrong. In autumn the leaves block the sensors, and in winter the hydraulic oil goes a bit thick and the thing stops if the platform doesn’t get to the bottom in time. Fortunately the maintenance guy lives round the corner, and can operate it in manual mode if it’s stuck half way.
