Toaster is crumby enough without melted butter added to the mix.

Peanut butter. And marmalade. None of that jam nonsense.

Butter of course and yeah you can only put it on first.

    No butter.

Strawberry jam first then thin layers of cheddar on top.  Or Wensleydale as that’s local to me and just as nice (but difficult to slice thinly!)

Of course butter. Then bramble jelly. Of course.

You people saying no butter are the same perverts who put the jam first on a scone, and you disgust me.

You could not be more wrong. You could try to be more wrong, but you would be unsuccessful.

I’m saying no butter. At all. Just jam and a shed load of cheese.

    Far better 🙂

Your side would soon break, morale weakened by consumption of inferior scones.

Peanut butter and then strawberry or raspberry jam – yum

Scone – butter, jam and then cream

Shhh, don’t talk to him ransos. He’s obviously not from round ere.

I bought some lovely scones the other day in Sidmouth. Next day I took one (jam spread on, and cream in a little tupperware tub) as a mid-ride snack.

20 miles in, sat on a hilltop overlooking the sea….best riding snack ever 😀

A toasted sausage sandwich with marmalade.  I give you sweet and sour pork.

It’s much, much nicer than you are imagining .

Never a truer word spoken. Bet he puts jam on potato waffles as well. Freak.

Screw Jam, that’s for kids. Marmite every time. With butter if on toast, and without on nice thick brown bread.

An ex-girlfreind of mine did cheese on jam on toast, it was tasty alright, but has to be strong Cheddar. She also did mashed up hard boiled egg on jam on toast which was pretty good too. One of those things where your taste buds are disagreeing with your other senses…you shouldn’t like it, but you do.

If butter, just butter and loads of it.

If jam, no butter and it better be Bonne Maman Blueberry, Cherry or Blackcurrant.

You’re all wrong. Cheese and marmalade. In an omelette. Inside a pitta.

    No butter.

Ajantom – Sidmouth is in Devon, so you were lucky not to be shot for having a Cornish snack.

In fact, you may still be…

(Fadda, from Devon, and therefore adopting the correct order of things…)

Well 3 weeks ago I would definitely have been in the butter / peanut butter ( crunchy ) / raspberry jam camp ..but in an effort to curb my rising blood sugar levels I have knocked bread / pasta & rice on the head ..

It helps talking about it !😂

    Shop bought jam?! Pleb.

It doesn’t become toast until the butter is added.

Gooseberry or Damson with a leyer of greaseproifpaper or mould to scrape off the top first.

Scones don’t need cream that argument is a waste of time.

Having been in French France last week… Croissant no butter with Apricot jam spread through the middle with an extra blob of it on the side for dipping….C’est tres bon

Croissants should been enjiyed plain dipped bitter black coffee with the taste of last nights wine hangover and your most recently rolled cigarette still on your tongue. Non?

I asked the same question a year or so ago as i had never considered having butter before my topping of choice.

It changed my life for the better.

I hear you but if your coffee is black, you don’t get to taste French milk …. Mmmm creamy

Strawberry jam first then thin layers of cheddar on top.  Or Wensleydale.

Very much this – I think it is a Yorkshire thing though, similarly to Wensleydale with Christmas cake. Mmmmm. I wish I was at home now as I have the cheese and (somehow) still some Christmas cake left over from last Christmas.
