So I’ve bought a new laptop and have got everything over that I need to from my old one except my e-mail personal folders.

Old laptop has Outlook 2007 so the folders are a .pst file. New laptop has Windows Mail (Vista) which can’t import .pst

Is there a way around this at all?

i’d suggest that the best way around it would be to downgrade your new laptop OS to XP from vista!
but that’s probably not practical for you; one way of doing it is to install a 30 day trial version of outlook on your vista machine, copy the pst file over, open it with outlook and then import it in windows mail…

That’s the problem though, I’ve copied the .pst file over and that’s fine, it’s just that Windows Mail cannot recognise the .pst format (bizarrely!).

That’s why he suggested installing Outlook
Then Vista mail [or whatever it’s called] will be able to import from outlook

if you install outlook as well though, then use that to open the pst file first, you can go file>import>messages>ms outlook in windows mail and it apparently works.
    never done it myself though…
