Yes, that’s right, I’m thinking of going a little niche! Am after a bike to commute on, a bike to hoon around the Park on after work and I reckon that I’ve narrowed it down to a niche-mungous ride…

    Singlespeed Cyclo-cross.

So, is there anything out there apart from a Spesh Tricross Single? Not that I see anything wrong with that, as such, but want to check the options before a test ride!

Wasn’t the Fixie Inc. Pure Blood that was briefly reviewed in this months STW able to be run SS or geared? It is disc only though, which could be an issue…

    Looks bloody gorgeous though..

And just how does one “hoon around” on a cyclo-cross bike?

Nick, that Pure Blood is indeed a lovely thing. Perhaps too lovely! One thing that appeals about the Spesh is that it’s nicely understated. Less likely to attract the attention of thieving scallies! (Drop bars help, of course)

Depends how you look at it. One man’s hoon is another man’s bumble.

GNARGNAR, I suspect that Mr Kabush could leave you standing on pretty much any form of bike.

what is “hooning” exactly, do you need a special bike for it?

Kona do a SS roadie/cx type thing, although it’s more roadie setup out of the box it could probably do for CX.
