  • Ironbridge Museum. Can you take your bike in ?
  • Bit of a last minute decision, so too late to phone the museum itself, but there’s a Meccano exhibition and all the steam engines in steam this weekend.
    We’d like to go by tandem, but as always, we don’t want to leave a bike unattended outside.
    Does anyone know if you can take a bike in to the outdoor part of Blists Hill Victorian Town ?

    Edit to add, in case anyone else is interested;

    Its made to look like a victorian town, mostly rebuilt from old buildings that have been re built there.

    They do have a phone line and email for enquiries, something the victorians hadnt quite yet perfected just ring or email them.

    But a few years ago when i visited i just walked the bike in and chained it to some nice railings near the steam engines, david and goliath i think they where called.

    No one would try and nick your twoseated deathtrap at the best of times and most people in Telford are to lazy to even try and pedal it away. 😉

    Fortunately though, someone was working late and answered my question on their Facebook page.
    They don’t allow bikes in the museum, but there are racks outside in the car park.

    Outside, unsecure racks are not good enough, so I’ve made other arrangements now.
    Mr’s MTG’s son is borrowing her car to take his kids to the museum, so we will meet them there and cram the tandem inside the car while we all go in.

    Pah, deathtrap indeed, checking my GPS log just now and we’ve done 77km on the tandem so far and we are still alive.

    Do you have proof you’re still alive?
    For all I know you might be making it up.

    I look my bike up all the time.

    Never been stolen.

    It’s that confusion between anecdote and data again. 😉
