Am torn between Bamburgh and Harlech.

I love Dunstanburgh – it’s just down the coast from my mam and dad. I think my favourite’s Duntulm on Skye. There’s not much of it left but it is etched in my memory from a rain-lashed ride round to the ferry at Uig. Hugely dramatic in the way it loomed out of the cloud.

Harlech Castle – My fave, so many memories, from the 70s…..

Colchester castle in my home town still in use as the museum built on top of a Roman temple(claudius) consrtuction started by willam the barst*rd one of two the other being the keep at the tower of London and the place of exercution of the leaders of the roylist force during the seige of Colchester.

Raglan Castle makes for pretty good hide nad seek

have a lot of memories of wedging lorries through the gatehouse into Pendennis and of taking them over the causeway to St.Michaels Mount, another good’un.

Whittington Castle, Shropshire. Spent alot of time playing there as a kid whilst my parents/ grandparents were in the White Lion.

Dunster… though it’s more of a huuuge country house… awesome place.

Right, a proper one:

(I know I’m probbly going to get slagged off, and have people saying it’s rubbish, etc etc, but it is a very impressive castle, spanning a lot of history, and has seen so much stuff going on. Still works, too; has a barracks, and is used for all sorts of official functions. Has some impressive displays of armour and weaponry, and one or two shiny things…)

I do like some of the Welsh ones, too. I love Conwy; fantastic how they designed it with a railway line running through it!
