Hello all, I’m planning our next family holiday and looking for places to go.

For the last five years we’ve stayed at the Woolacombe Sands Holiday Park (https://www.woolacombe-sands.co.uk/ ) in Woolacombe, North Devon. This is good as:

    – It is small and clean
    – Near a few good beaches
    – Got a pool indoor and outdoor
    – Got a club house for eating, drinking and some entertainment
    – Relatively cheap

Having tried a Haven we’re certainly more interested in smaller, independent sites.

I’m open to location, probably south west or south coast.

    Cheers!

River dart country park – https://riverdart.co.uk/campsite-caravan-holiday-park/

    and

    Woodlands Grove – https://www.woodlandsgrove.co.uk/

Both are really good and Woodlands Grove has an attached theme park you get access to if staying more than two nights.

Neither are the cheapest but we really enjoyed camping here over the last few years.

We go to Heritage Coast Campsite at least a couple of times a year. It’s not far from Cardiff, there’s a beautiful deserted beach 20 minutes walk away which kids love (although no bogs or shops). It has a good bar/cafe and is 5 minutes from a wonderful pub. They supply and encourage firepits and BBQs.
Right in the heart of South Wales road cycling country.

Forgot about that. A fatbike and kids trailer on the pump track was ….. challenging.

    Dartmoor Bike Park

And there is some really good natural riding in the valleys close by, some great natural swimming pools etc.

x2 for River Dart, or http://www.motheriveysbay.com in North Cornwall – no clubhouse or pool but own beach, plus 2 others within walking distance. Great play area and space for the kids. Fantastic when the weather is good as you don’t need to move from the site, but not stayed there if you have a week of rain and it might be a different story as you’d have to travel to amuse the kids.
