Lots of 29ers there in 2010 – no reason an Inbred would be any different!

I rode on a rigid 29er last year (Kona Unit). It was very hard on the upper body, especially hands, despite having a 2.4 upfront.
I’m riding the same bike this year and have toyed with suspension but my wife says its for pussies and I should MTFU.

2nd above comments – I rode a rigid 29er with 2.4 front tyre – suspension would have made the last 30 miles a lot quicker.

Did it last year on a Ragley TD-1 and the year before on a 26″ Inbred. Rigid and singlespeed both times.

The singletrack at Kielder is very rocky and bumpy. On some of the descents I had to stop part-way down to allow the cramp in my hands to go. My hands were swollen and tender for a few days afterwards.

For endurance stuff, a 29er is definitely best. I only have two rides on a suspension fork; one would help at Kielder with the bumpy stuff, but no idea if the weight penalty and bounciness would be worth the trade off.

I’ll be rigid and SS again this year, but hoping for some carbon bars this time.

Oh, and BenHouldsworth’s wife is correct.

    😉
