Ideally I would be married to from dusk to dawn era Salma Hayek, and I would spend the next 2 years indoors. After which I would emerge, blinking into the light, to inquire what state the world now was in, hoping the virus still had a grip so that I could return to our blissful hibernation.

I don’t disagree with the general concept they are following. Timing, detail and public confidence are key .

1. Start with a fully funded/staffed NHS.

2. Take note of warnings from elsewhere.

3. Explain your strategy to the public.

4. Set clear rules.

5. Stop usual civil service red tape to allow agile decision making.

5. Be prepared to make a mistake by acting early. Be willing to admit a mistake and change course.
