Apologies if this has been covered before, but is there a legal way to minimise any duties and VAT that will be applied to a old complete bicycle when imported, value around £800. Can it be described in such a way as used, parts, warranty, lower value etc?

Used, refurbished etc goods are still liable to VAT and duty based on the value marked on the shipping commercial invoice. The biggest con is that VAT is also now charged on the shipping cost too if paid for outside the UK.
