I went to Newbury once or twice for the air show at Greenham Common. Full of hippies in tents back then.

True, but that was nearly 20 years ago. Imagine what it would be like if they hadn’t built the by-pass.

Apparently the average traffic increase across the country is 5%, theirs has been 50%. Not sure if it’d have gone higher without it, traffic tends to go up to capacity then people avoid the area, building new roads attracts more traffic. Who knows really? The predictions that justified the road were all total pish, that much we do know. A shame.
