See loads of them at the bushcraft meetups.
I don’t know whether they also wear them around town or not 🙂

    Go for it.

I wear a flat cap, which makes me look like a right ****, I don’t see why I should be alone.

I never knew you were into line dancing, btw.

Don’t blame it on the hat. 😛

Far better than those leather Australian bush hats I see lots of people wearing, get a black one, and it’s really little different to a fedora.
Not a whole lot different to this one:

Do you have a farm the size of Surrey?

Do you now, or have you ever lived in Wooolamoolooo station?

if the answers to either of those questions is no…then Yes. Yes you will.

Ignore this lot. Who cares if your wife leaves you what people think.

Get ahead get a hat. Definitely, I’d wear proper hats all the time if I could carry them off with a degree of aplomb.

I do have a flat cap though, is it OK for a Southerner to wear it?

Nothing wrong with a battered Akubra.

A brand new one with an equally gleamingly new Barbour and Hunters, however…..

    Of course, CG.
    Classless innit?

As a feckless youth I briefly affected a trilby, until one wag in the Stretford End fondly opined ‘**** hell, Sherlock’s turned up again’.

Harry, I too have pondered your hat dilemma. Tell you what I will if you will, how about that?

I like a hat & regularly brave ridicule from my friends and workmates .
When I wear the flat cap I tell them it’s part of my cultural heritage . 🙂
I think that one up there would be a step too far though. 😉

    Are you growing a mullet?

Be honest, we’re all friends here.

As a big fan of the mid life crisis expressed through a totally unsuitable barnet, I feel your pain.

The fez or the bush hat?

The reason I need a hat is that I’m taking the cub pack camping in spring and feel that a daft hat would be appropriate rather than my usual Team SKY baseball cap. The other leaders have those waxed cotton jobs.

Wear a Monmouth cap, explain the history and why it’s a lost piece of their culture

Felt ones are rubbish, get a proper leather one.

I loved mine until I left it on the car roof.

You may or may not look ridiculous, Only way it could be unforgivably ridiculous is wearing it while driving a crap german SUV 🙂

More people should wear hats. I have a few, all of which I almost never wear.

felt far better than leather – but buy a fedora not a bush hat. Great in the rain – keeps it from running down your neck

There’s always the Tilley hat, in a choice of materials, I’ve got a waxed cotton one, and the Canadian Winter hat, which is a wool mix, and both are good for keeping rain from running down your neck.
