Look at this big, buzzy boi! No idea what it is, but it was massive, maybe 3-4cm. Anyone know what it is?

    Picture not working.

But its going to be a woodwasp.

Its the one that always gets asked.

Edit. Picture working. Nit a woowasp.

    Updated…don’t think it’s a wood wasp :/

I like ‘woowasp’ and if it didn’t exist it ought to.

The closest we can get is Entypus or Ichneumon but that is only a guess.

    What country are you in?

    Update.
Current favorite is a Carpenter Bee.

I’m in sunny Lincolnshire, nowhere too exotic.

Still got me stumped, tried numerous insect identifier things.

    Gryllus campestris?

Can see a lot more Gryllus than Carpenter bee but the head seems too small and Gryllus have pointy bits sticking out the back end.
Might be a new type though bags we call it Gryllus unum semita if it is.
(I expect someone will be along to make me write out the correct Latin 100 times.)
