picking up my new commuter soon and would like some ideas on how to further deter the scumbags from nicking it!

2 no:good locks, chained up in a public place, tape over paint job to disguise it, old seat/ bar grips etc – but is there anything else i could do? don't really want to do the whole painting in hammerite thing!!!

tape over paint job to disguise it,

Tea leaves in the Smoke have apparently recently started targeting any bike taped up, on the idea that if the owner has taped it, it must be good enough to disguise and therefore nick.

    Scum.

cover it in black 3M reflective tape, make a rubbish job of it (or do it odd non symmetrical patches) so it look gash but still benefit from extra visiblity it gives you at night/dusk

[edit] posted pre to reading Cpt Flash's comment

Spray it in wd40 ride down a dust track, repeat until you have a nice thick layer of grud.

    full mudguards and rack

think about logos on wheels, hubs brakes etc. cover them with a permanent marker or tape if they can't be removed.

A fixie with these fitted. No brake and a loose headset. Just follow the trail of blood.
