    Hi,

I need some quick advice. Nuts… are they in or out?

    Ta.

    In.

But go easy on them, they are hugely calorie dense.

I plateaued for a while then realised I was eating loads – cut down, and continued losing.

Ha… I’m doing my own amended version anyway… I’ve had sandwiches, milk and donuts for lunch, fruit and nuts for snacks, muesli and fruit for breakfast.

Infact I’ve not had a single meal that conforms to the plan yet 🙁 I did make an iDave stew but the recipe said serve with crusty bread. So I did.

Good point. Eventually, one has to reach a point where no more weight is lost, while maintaining a low GI diet ?.

Sort of. I drink red wine at night.

Have replaced some of my bread and pasta with lentils etc.

According to our lord and master, this diet will get you down to 10-12% body fat.

Yeti – I think if you are doing to do half measures the best thing to do is have iDave breakfasts.

Errr, praise be, maybe. Like TSY, I’ve no idea what by body fat % is.

Ahh… I might be there already.

Thing is… with the times that I exercise I though I might be ok with my current eating.

I wonder, do you think you will execise as much when you are 60 years old, as you do currently.
    (genuine curiousity)
    😉

Solo… this is a very good question.

I have been pondering the same. I think there will inevitably be a spell where I have to cut back because of other comittments, but by the time I’m 60 they’ll hopefully be behind me, I might even be retired, in which case I’ll be exercising to my hearts content.

Alternatively I’ll find something new to be addicted to…

I do this thing [post edited. Mod] and after ten minutes I can give you a fairly accurate estimation of bodyfat %age. Yeti, when should I book you in?

    TSY.

Well, its not so much a specific age, my curiousity is more to do with when people get older versus their very well established eating habits, carried forward from when they were much younger / active.

My thinking is that as people age, they may not be able to exercise to an intensity that will allow them to burn off the lard they would otherwise store, were they to stick to a more everyday, carby diet from their youth.

So, carrying on from that, I’m thinking, if I develop alternative eating habits now and take them with me into older life, I hope to be sufficiently equiped on a dietary basis, to be able to avoid later life spread. Maybe ?.

I think that the meals I have come to like, the ones I have discovered here, dsicussing the iDave diet, and on my own, will stay with me and so hopefully assist with keeping my weight under control for the rest of my life. Not forgetting the importance of exercise too. 😉

I also note that I enjoy exercise more when I’m a lighter weight.

I would say it is. Mayonnaise = eggs and oil, no? Both of which are in. And the rest of it is just veg?

Alternatively I’ll find something new to be addicted to…

Another interesting point. I heard the head of WW being interviewed in R4 about a year ago.

He spoke of research in the US that had discovered the same “reward” receptors in the brain were stimulated when the subject consumed “junk food” as when a person uses drugs.

Their brains rewarded them for eating pizza, burgers, whatever.

Hence why som find it so difficult to change, they are addicted to the, errr, bad stuff ?.

I’d be looking at the GI rating for Mayo myself, were I not convinced on the basis of no evidence at all, that mayonaise is an A class artery clogger.

I use to like it, but there is life after Mayo and Salad cream.
