My friend was hired as an IT troubleshooter for the DWP on a rather large paycheck when they were trying to get universal credit sorted.
He started out being very pro-UC
by the end of it he quit in disgust, targets were set by ministers (IDS) irrespective of what was actually possible
the DWP were pissing away billions to IT companies who knew the targets were would never be met. Literally sending in graduates (rather than experienced staff they were supposed to) to do nothing in big offices outside newcastle 5 days a week, because the previous contract hadnt been delivered either and their work couldnt start, but it was scheduled in to the governments plan.
his reports were repeatedly ignored, in the end he pulled his company out of it because he didnt want to be associated with something he thought would be a disaster and ruin lives.
it was a transformative moment for him he’d been an anti-Brown, Guido Fawkes fanboy.
Hes a fully paid up Corbyn fan now, so at least IDS has had one positive effect on someone.
