We’ve got damp on an interior wall at the front of our house which I can only believe is as a result of our front step. I’ve dug it hout and hopefully it’ll dry out. The damp is directly behind the pipe which is a gas pipe.

Could do with reconstructing the full width step though as I have two kids under 4.

I plan to leave a drainage channel near the wall.

Build it back up with air bricks installed to allow a flow of air underneath. When laying the slabs on top angle them so there is a slight run off away from the house.

They’re already was a run off.

I think it was the fact it was filled with a fine aggregate and retaining moisture. The aggregate was also above the DPC.

Hence, I don’t really want to put the aggregate back in so thought about maybe some brick pillars? That way I can retain airflow to the air brick I’ve uncovered.
