  • How to paint my chainring?

It was black when I bought the bike but has aged to a brown colour. And it really offends my eyes when I’m not riding it.
So when I replace the BB I fancy popping it off the crank giving it a proper clean (dishwasher followed by solvents) and then a quick spray. Anyone got any advice on what to use?

My bottle holders have done this, I kinda like the cola vibe.

I would probably consider replacement of the chainring, its not likely to last much longer if you’ve had it long enough to fade it.

It’s belt drive (a beltring?) So it doesn’t seem to wear like a proper chain ring does.

It’s not at eye level and not going to catch any reflections so the finish probably doesn’t matter too much, rattle can from halfords (matt red to match the saddle/grips would look quite cool though). Wouldn’t bother with clearcoat etc, it’s going to chip regardless.

Skinwall tyres and a tan Charge Spoon and it will all look professionally matched.

I’d rather give up riding than have skinwalls.

    Ride the bike more.

If it’s aluminium you’ll need to etch-prime it before you spray.
