  • How much brake fluid do I need to bleed Magura brakes?

Hydraulics and me don’t get on at all. I learned this early on with my first car, a 1973 MGB with, in addition to the usual hydraulic brakes, a hydraulic clutch and hydraulic rear dampers. And all of them leaked. I have been afraid to touch hydraulics ever since.

So – I need to bleed my Magura Marta SL brakes for a ride this weekend – the bike has sat for awhile, and now both levers go to the bars. There are no leaks that I’m aware of. I have a mini service kit, and it comes with a small (50ml?) bottle of mineral oil brake fluid along with the two syringes. Assuming a normal bleed, should this be enough to do a bleed, or should I buy another bottle of fluid?

If theres a chance you’re going to run out of fluid, you will, because you haven’t got any.
So get another bottle of fluid, then you won’t need it.
