A pair of ‘approach’ shoes that do for bike commuting, dog walking, cycling, if it’s wet, gardening, etc.
    A pair on Vans.
A pair of Tom’s boots for work.
A worn out pair of DMs.
A pair of running shoes for running.
An old pair of running shoes that live at work for at-work exercise things.
An old pair of approach shoes that live by the back door as communal garden shoes.
A pair of ‘posh’ shoes for weddings, christenings, etc.

    So, eight.

I had a bit of a clear out the other week and got it down to 58 pairs upstairs, I’m not counting the half dozen or so walking boots/work boots/wellies in the porch racks, but I’m half looking for some new Chelsea boots for the winter and some of those soft loafer/driving shoe type things for warmer climes. I didn’t think I had a problem. From memory:

    Gym trainers
    Running trainers
    Tennis shoes
    Old tennis for painting
    Skechers lightweight
    Skechers boat shoe

    Pull on nubucks
    two tone deck shoes
    Chukka boots nubuck
    Trickers country boot
    Trickers tan brogues
    Croc-embossed Bit Loafers
    Square toe derby
    Cap to Oxford
    Wholecut Oxfords
    Black walking sandal
    Light walking sandal
    Leather sandals
    Birks
    DMs
    Grey sude brogues
    Blue suede loafers
    Rockport winter boot
    Allen bluchers
    Flip flops x3
    Biking SPDs x3

I thought I had a fair few pairs of footwear (don’t really do shoes – I’m all about the boots) but I’m obviously a total amateur reading this thread…

2 pairs of ‘best’ boots (patent DMs, Underground winklepickers)
1 pair of weird Skechers platform boots
    1 pair of ghillie brogues
2 pairs of work dealer boots (DMs just about worn out, new pair of Dickies – I’m a fan of workwear in an ‘office’ environment)
2 pairs of ‘nice ‘ trainers (black on black Adidas Coast Stars and some old school DCs)
1 pair of not so nice trainers (canvas 5:10)
3 pairs of MTB shoes (5:10 Freerider, O’Neal Pinned Pro, Shimano ‘hiking’ MTB boot – older equivalent of the XM9)
2 pairs of ‘hybrid’ sandals (Keen CLearwater, Merrel Tetrex)
2 pairs of approach shoes (both Merrel, both too narrow)
1 pair of walking boots (Adidas Terrex GTX)
1 pair of trail running shoes (Adidas Terrex)
1 pair of winter dog walking boots (Dickies)
    1 pair of Rigger boots
1 pair of ‘snow’ dog walking boots from ALdi (kind of fur lined welly/gaiter hybrid things)
1 pair of Vibram Five Fingers
1 pair of sliders for going to the bins
1 pair of nike football boots somewhere

I’m lucky in that I have a big cupboard in my bedroom where I added some racking that means they all fit nicely

That doesn’t sound lucky to me, 147 pairs of used shoes kept next to your bed, full of win that mate. :o)

2x smart/work shoes, one brown, one black.
2x walking boots /shoes also double as riding /winter use.
    2x trainers

They get replaced when they break.

Do y’all have walk in wardrobes to accommodate them all?

    You’re (mostly) all bloody weird.

    Two pairs of brown.

    One of black.

    Some for running.

    Some for walking.

    Some grubby ones.

    Slippers.

And anyone that wears brogues is not to be trusted.

3 pairs of cycling shoes depending on bike/pedals being used.
2 pairs of running shoes, one for road one for off.
2 pairs of old running shoes for gyming, one pair at home one under the desk at work.
1 pair of old trail running shoes used for MTB’ing on flats.
1 pair of brand new still-in-box running shoes bought in the sale waiting for the current pair to retire.
    2 pairs of walking boots.

    How do some of you have less than 10 pairs of shoes? I have more pairs of sports shoes than that;
    3x gym/weightlifting shoes
    3x football/rugby boots
    2x running trainers
    1x squash/court shoe
    1x Spesh 2FO 1.0
    2x clip-ins (MTB + road)
    1x golf shoes
    1x hillwalking boots

Not to mind the formal and casual shoes and boots; roughly 20 pairs. Once your feet stop growing, why not invest in good quality footwear for all occasions. Its all about contact points remember.

    Holy, holy, shit.

    58 pairs

..and that was *after* a clear out?!

Are some of these answers really genuine?

At any one time, I usually only have:

1x pair of Quiksilver flip-flops which, to be fair, I wear most of the year (these get replaced when necessary).
1x pair of trail runners from Decathlon which cover running/biking/anything else that requires trainers (these get replaced when necessary).
1x pair of Converse for some work stuff, client meetings, and, erm… weddings (these get replaced when necessary although I sometimes replace them earlier if I need something extra smart :o) ).
1x pair of bombproof North Face winter boots which only come out a few times a year (which I don’t think will ever need to be replaced).

I honestly can’t see any reason for owning more than that.

Er, I’m absolutely the opposite. Edit – apart from ambientcoast, I like his style, especially the Converse for best. 😁

    1x pair of brown boots.
    1x pair of trainers.
    1x pair of MTB SPD’s
1x pair of road SPD’s (free, didn’t pay for them)
    1x pair of wellies.
1x pair of old trainers for gardening or other dirty jobs.

So six, still more than the number of bikes I own.

For various outside sports, umpteen. Well into double figures and MrsKenny has no idea thankfully, numbers or cost.

I have no real idea, but I know there’s four pairs of Meindl Desert Fox boots, one pair really well worn, midsole starting to go, one pair might need resoling soon, and two pairs barely worn, a pair of 5:10 bike shoes, a pair of 5:10 skate-type shoes, a pair of German Paratrooper boots, which I was wearing earlier today, a pair of Muckboots, several pairs of Vans of indeterminate vintage, a pair of Teva sandals I bought in LA in 1993, a pair of Dr Martens black brogues for smarter wear, a pair of Meindle Canadian-style winter boots, my work steelies, and a bunch of old shoes stuffed away that could well do with being sorted and disposed of.
None of the above are new, the newest are probably two or three years old, some, like the 5:10’s are probably closer to ten or twelve!
