  • How many hours a week do you work?

Sure I heard on the radio this morning as I was waking up that last year 300,000 new jobs were created but only 3% of them were full time 😯

So, in true STW stylee a poll: How many hours do you work are you employed to work in a week? If you’re self-employed, base it on your total hours.

    A/ I’m a student / in full-time education
B/ Part Time [32 hours or less]
    C/ Full Time [>32 hours]
    D/ I’m retired
    E/ I’m unemployed

Not that it’s any of my business like; just wondered 8)

, but complicated because I spent this week on standby but didn’t actually do any work. If you count standby time, then [C].

It can be anywhere from 12-60.

I average around 36 hours per week though. I’m only working 12 hours next week and am dreading it, nothing worse than having too much time to kill.

C – pretty slack these days – never more than 50 hours.

In the bad old days it could regularly be 100+ hours.

C – contracted to 37 hours, written into my contract that I will receive no overtime payments, so I don’t do any.

C – probably 40ish. I’m an academic who’s settling into the mid-career comfy chair. Early career setting up my group it was up to twice that, so feels like a bit of a doss at the mo.

Freelance, so it varies between less than 5 and greater than 100. As a rule I try and draw the line at around 45 hours per week.

So far we’ve got (approximately) 1 part=time student, 5 part-time workers, & 19 full-time workers [plus tree-magnet who seems to be holding down half a dozen roles 😆 ] so we’re not far off the National average of 25% part-time jobs

B/ 20 hours a week – can be a lot more for a while then a lot less though

I was doing 30 hours a week but had to reduce it due to bastard ME/CFS/PVFS or whatever the **** it is. I don’t earn much at all but it’s quite nice to have plenty of time to do your own thing.
