how many bikes do you own?? bank balance under attack
I probably need to “man up”, but I find myself wanting a bike for every occasion.
Ive got a XC/AM hardtail, a jump hardtail and a freeridey bike.
But I cant help thinking I that my xc hardtail struggles a bit when I go on a long ride which is very rough, or go to stainburn forest for example. So I cant stop looking at the likes of Orange 5’s and Trek remedys.
How many bikes do you own? Its getting expensive and do I need to just make do with what ive got???Posted 7 years agoHighland28Member
In theory I have 2, my Am/trail bike, Ironhorse Mk3 atm soo to become an Ibis Mojo, and a road bike which is older than me which I use for commuting, was given to me for free and I spent £10 on it so if that counts i dont know!? I also have the use of an xc hardtail which I built and kinda own 1/3 of it but it is really a family run around which anyone can use.Posted 7 years agojonbMember

The bike isn’t struggling you are!
If you try and own a bike for every occasion then you will never have the right one for the actual situation you are in.
You can have different bikes for different riding but don’t blame them and think a new one will make everything better.Posted 7 years agoMrTallMember
29er Tourer (Fargo)
Old Road Bike (mid 80’s) – never ridden and never will be. Sat in shed.
Jump Bike (to ride with my Nephew who’s now changed to BMX)
26″ Kona SS (for sale at some stage as i don’t ride 26″ any more)
26″ Spesh Hardrock (my ex commuter bike) Sentimental first mtb.
Pub/Hack Bike (fugly 69er)
So that’ll be ten then. I tend to hoard them as selling big bikes is not hugely easy. I own the Mrs’ bike really as well as i bought it in the hope she’d ride it which she very rarely does.Posted 7 years agoMing the MercilessSubscriber
Fairly bling AM
Light weight RACE ONLY hard tail (but if its a lots of miles ride I’ll use it)
an old Preston that’s in the shed needing TLC
I would like a BMX and a money no object DH but Mrs Ming might turn me into coat hangers if I suggested it!Posted 7 years agoNorthwindSubscriber

My excuse, which is even practically true, is that I traded a bunch of fairly worthless parts for mine, couldn’t have sold them probably so it’s no loss.Posted 7 years agoel_boufadorSubscriber
FS – Turner 5 spot
HT – Pipedream sirius (currently SS)
Road/CX – Airborne Carpe Diem (pauper alu version) (currently built as road SS)
I chose them all specifically because they’re adaptable frames. That way if the mood fancies I can just swap a few bits and bobs and have a different riding experience without having the expense / hassle of loads of bikes sitting there largely unridden.Posted 7 years agocookeaaSubscriber
at the minute:
1- XC/Trail HT MTB
1- Jumpy/DH(ish) MTB
1- 26″ rigid SS MTB (almost finished)
1- Road bike (primarily for commuting)
That’s the current lot I favour the MTBs could ditch the BMX but then it’s not worth much so I may as well keep it. I’ve owned a couple of DH bikes and “AM” bouncers and given my skill levels and the amount of use they’d see Vs the cost and maintenance I’ll stick to HTs for the forseeable…Posted 7 years agoandrewhMember
Full suss carbon race bike
Magnesium HT, spare race bike
Big bike, full suss
Retro Ti HT
Rigid SS, ali
Steel MTB frame (broken)
Spare road frame
New carbon full suss and HT racing frames in the post 😀
Still ‘need’ CX bike, SS road bike, little jumpy bike. Maybe a better TT bike… etc, etc.Posted 7 years agostevemtbMember

Carbon road bike – frame will probably be bought soon
XC short travel HT – probably a bad idea but fancy a event/race bike.CoyoteSubscriber
Coyote Dual built up as a singlespeed. Love the bike, fits me perfectly with the added bonus of being practically worthless so no mileage in selling. 8)
DMR Trailstar LT the newest addition to the family. Early days yet, still getting to know each other but the signs are good. Probably a keeper.
Would love a full suss but it would be a luxury purchase as there’s to many other things ahead in the list.Posted 7 years ago
