- How many bicycle tyres do you own?
Did an inventory the other day and I was surprised to discover I've somehow managed to collect 35 tyres.
Is this a normal amount or do I have a problem?
Posted 8 years agoI have 5, two on each bike plus one spare. Quite enough for my needs 🙂
Posted 8 years ago20 fitted to bikes and 30+ in various piles.
Posted 8 years ago6 on bikes, one on a spare wheel, 1 pair of summer tyres and a pair of 'spare' Kendas for when the ones on thye Pitch wear out
I make that 11.
Posted 8 years agoOther than those fitted to bikes I own 0
Posted 8 years agoErm – 10 on bikes and another 10 in the shed, although that does include 2 Mountain Kings and a pair of Toiga Factory XC's so only 8 proper spare tyres 😆
Posted 8 years agoAlso about 30-35, 5 bikes so probably taking the mickey a bit…..
Posted 8 years ago4 on 2 bikes, 3 spares. Quite reasonable i think!
Posted 8 years ago8 on 4 bikes,
Posted 8 years ago
and 3 other pairs
can justify mine 😀
as these are different types of tyres altogether,
a commuting, a touring, and a summer off road tyre (that are rubbish and I should bin em really)8 bikes….
Spesh/Marin/Giant MTBs – 4 x big tyres, 6 x XC tyres, 1 x semi-slicks, 2 x slicks.

BMX – 2 sets
Giant/Scott road bikes – 6 sets in total.
Town bikes x 2 – One set per bike.Explosion In a Spaghetti Factory – Member
20 fitted to bikes and 30+ in various piles.you have 10 bikes!!!!
just the ones on my bike!
Posted 8 years ago17 tyres (including those fitted to the 3 bikes I own)but I wouldn't count many of them as spares necessarily as 6 of them are unused ones which came on the bikes when bought – and others are slicks that I fit to the cx bike for the commute.
Posted 8 years agoIncluding Mrs Tjs bikes I think its 13 on bikes (well one on a unicycle) and around 16 more tyres.
All perfectly justifiable. Summer / winter for the MTBs. Offroad expedition or touring for the tandem. commuting tyres etc etc. I do throw worn out ones away.
Posted 8 years agoSomewhere around the number that Explosion has – spread across a mix of road, 'cross, hardtails and full sussers 😳
Posted 8 years ago6 on bikes
3 spare (2 no longer produced nokians for later!)If this thread leads to anyone feeling guilty enough to have a clear out, feel free to mail me! need something to similar (but with actual grip)replace my mountain king 2.4

😀you have 10 bikes!!!!
Only 6.5 of them are mine.
The .5 being the front half of a tandem. 😀
Posted 8 years ago8 I think. 6 on bikes and a set of Sport Contacts by my desk. I don't really keep stuff, I tend to move stuff on.
Posted 8 years agoWay more than a sane person with one mountain bike would own.

One of my riding buddies has one set of tyres on each bike for all conditions. He wonders why he's 2.1111 seconds slower than all of us..twelvety
Posted 8 years ago1 bike 2 tyres.
Posted 8 years agoAbout three times as many as the other half thinks I have. Probably about 40 including those on mine and her bikes (5 bikes in total; mountain 26er and 29er, road). Although some of those are never going to be used as they are rubbish or are verging on lethal if you don't live in california. These mostly came on bikes or were "gifts" from friends.
So tyres that I would use? Probably 10-15. Just over the number of wheels I need to put tyres on. Happy coincidence!
Posted 8 years ago6 tyres
2 fitted to the bike
Posted 8 years ago
2 spares that i would use
2 spares that are a last resort32 fitted to bikes (10 of those are road, TT and track bikes). About 50 spare road tyres/tubs, and about 6 spare MTB tyres.
Posted 8 years ago20 used in revoltution (on 4 different bikes)
Posted 8 years ago
2 in the post
~4 not worn out, but not used
A few worn out ones that need chucking6 on 3 bikes,plus 5 spare so 11 in total…

Posted 8 years agoA quick reckon up tells me…
56 in the cellar and 12 on bikes (6 all mine).
Of these there are 2 I'll never use (tioga factory dh and wtb velicoraptor?) and 14 brand new dh tyres I got free and need to sell some of! The rest I'm making my way through slowly.
Posted 8 years ago12 on bikes

Spare set of road tyres
About 12 ish MTB ones from slicks to mud ones
Under 30 then!
Oh yes a set that dont fit any bike I own anyone need some 27 inch tyres?I reckon about 20 inc 2 sets of 26" slicks and spare for road bike and part worns as emergency tyres 🙂 🙄 sold 4 recently 🙂
Posted 8 years ago4 new cross marks that arrived when autumn finished, 1 RR, 1 panaracer razor, 1 medusa, 5 nevegals, 2 cinders, 1 city jet TT slick, 2 Ice tyres,
and yet i need more!
Posted 8 years agoAbout 25 tyres and 7 sets of wheels, split between 24" and 26".
Everything from Racing Ralphs through to Mud X's, plus some DH ones too.
Posted 8 years agoI thought I only had about 20 or 25, until I counted them.
It's funny how I've obviously got too many, but yet you can never have enough either.
Posted 8 years agoSteveh – don't suppose you have a 2.5 ST minion F in that lot do you?
And to contribute to the thread – 6 on bikes, maybe 6 or 8 more as spares, including some truly useless ones I will never use – 2.7 SR high roller anyone???
Posted 8 years agoSheesh, why would want that many tyres, people??
"You can only ride one set at once!"
Posted 8 years agoI thought I had a few until I saw this thread – 8 on bike and 4 spares + 2 on the Mrs P bike so 14 for 5 bikes.
Posted 8 years agoSheesh, why would want that many tyres, people??
Some "experts" on here told me that 29er tyres were hard to get hold of so I thought I should buy a few spares. 😆

Yes but they won't wear out before the change in conditions mean something else is more appropriate ..25… ish
Posted 8 years ago1 set on the P7
Posted 8 years ago
1 set on the Demo7
But some strange reason i've got 3 sets of cyclocross tyres and a set of road tyres for it.2 turbo tyres, 8 tyres on the bikes, a set of winter tyres and a spare set of 1.9IRC Mythos. So that would be 14, but have given away about 6 sets of part worn tyres recently.
Posted 8 years agoThis thread made me have a look, sold quite a few a while back but still have 8 on bikes and another 14 spare – didnt realise I had that many. My son recently got his first full size bike with 26" wheels so I am sure the store of tyres will disappear rapidly.
